That sounds great. I know the club has for quite a while been trying to get the army more involved hopefully this kick starts it 8) Apparently the club cannot play games against the army sides as they are not FA registered or something along those lines? Such a shame as surely that would get down quite a crowd!

Like the new look site too although the automatic playing video might get annoying!

Draw for the FA Cup 4th qual is out but cannot find a place with it all in one easy to share link right now? Would of thought the fa website would have it as soon as it was done? If only they had their own FOC!

tut tut - you'll 'ave the 'of' vs 'have' Stasi after you again! :?

...anyways - shamelessly 'filched' from Non-League Matters here's the 4Q draw:

- the FA Site usually puts all the draws and dates of replays etc etc out on a Bulletin in PDF format; which though easier to read than their website's main menus, is a bit of a pain waiting for them to get in gear and load it properly.

Expect there may be a few Fri/Sun ties too - as anyone familiar with Nailsworth will appreciate ... looking below!
:wink:

FA Cup 4Q - ties to be played w/e 26th Oct

With the grounds only being a few hundred yards apart, I imagine Forest Green Rovers v Bishop's Stortford and Shortwood United v Aldershot Town will not both kick off at 3pm on the Saturday.

Any other obvious clashes?

Do not underestimate this!

The little village of Hartley Wintney have gone from 2:0 and 3:1 down away to Clevedon to win and now one win away from first round proper. Grays or Daventry at home I believe.

Love them to get Wolves at home lol.

Indeed as I said way above somewhere, I've seen them win both their previous replays this season and they are scarily good going forward down at this level - I'm not surprised they've caused two big upsets away from home vs sides a STEP above them; scoring 9 goals in the process. Winner tonight a pen - in 6th minute of injury time.

Grays v Daventry match was postponed from yesterday; now to be played on Wed evening - Daventry won their first 7 league games this season so Grays might prove an easier path to 1st Round proper - is indeed the furthest 'The Row' have ever got in the FA Cup. :D

... expect if they did draw someone 'big' they might consider switching it to the Camrose or Cherrywood Rd - not sure what the 'rules' are in such circs - if indeed there are any?
Was also at their 'record crowd' (officially close to 1400) many years ago when AFC Wimbledon came to town. Has to be said The Memorial Ground is not among the larger one's in the CCL - pretty similar in layout to Sandhurst Town - indeed their surrounds are even tighter in to the pitchside.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elsewhere: the Southern League Cup game between Hungerford and Diddy tonight ended 3-1 with the Crusaders scoring on 89' & 92'.
Binfield edged past Highmoor/IBIS 2-1 at Palmer Pk in the Berks/Bucks Trophy - not sure if this was delayed or in ET, as the lights were still blazing away well after 10 as we drove back from Bracknell?
It literally is like playing on a council pitch with a barrier around it.
Basingstoke were tweeting support for HW tonight so I am not surprised at your suggestion. Town folk would come out to support them, me included.
Fantastic from HW.
Windsor beat them 3-0 in 2nd half of our recent game against them.
Shame we lost the 1st half 5-0.
Players from Brockenhurst and Andover Town set a new record after their Hampshire Senior Cup match finished 0-0 after extra time.
They scored 29 consecutive penalties in a shoot-out.
for any reading this who want to get into going to random games Brockenhurst is easily reached on the train a decent pub near the station and a pretty little village. Thinking of doing a few more grounds when i have the time. Not as list ticking like some do but more for the days out and that'll be one of the first i do again.
After Windsor U18 result last night against Slough, the big game from last night yeah?!?, it got me thinking why don't the FA introduce a young player incentive like the ECB do in cricket in all the leagues they run from the Championship down to non league? Would mean less journeyman pay day types in a side and would help get clubs on a more realistic path.
Nice work HW. I know the village well as had relatives living there for many years, can't picture where the ground would be though. On the outskirts, one assumes?
Grays are not a patch on the strong Conference outfit of the mid-00s, currently in Ryman Prem which is an equivalent one-divisional step up from the vanquished 3Q opposition, Clevedon. Daventry would be the preferred opposition, coming from the United Counties League which is the South Midlands equivalent to HW and Windsor's (Combined Counties) League. Be fantastic to see HW get through.....to no doubt draw something like Gateshead away in Round 1 :lol:
Talking earlier of Clevedon gives me the spurious opportunity to say that my local team - North Leigh - currently top the Southern League Division 1 South & West 8)
Not sure about that - think it's Daventry Town, currently top of Southern D1 Central i.e. STEP04 - they've won 8 and only lost 1 league game so far, so would be a very tough proposition for HW - best of luck to them whoever they end up with...
Well, not in the centre but only about 100 yards south of the A30.
... some news filtering through about the 4th Qualifying Round ties w/e 26th Oct.
FGR & Shortwood will both KO at 15:00 on the Sat PM - with the Shots game at the Southern League side being pay on the day.
.... presumably they don't think the presence of Bps Stortford fans up the hill at Forest Gn is a big stewarding/policing issue.
Anyone of our N.Hants 'buddies' thinking of travelling to Shortwood its quite an approach to Meadowbank (well named) up a very steep narrow hill.
FGR's ground is clearly visible up even higher on top of the next hill!
HW are having a think about their ticketing - presumably neither Grays nor Daventry have a significantly large away following so the crowd is just as likely to be swelled by the 'novelty-seekers' - they ought to be able to cater for that size of crowd at Memorial - its the NEXT round (if they manage to get there AND get a home draw of course) which could prove a challenge to their venue?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

last nights games - away from 'Woy's Wooney-led Wonders' (yeah and I know 'Stevie Me' was wearing the armband but that doesn't alliterate as well :mrgreen: )

Bracknell caused an upset in the Hellenic Premier - winning 2-0 H vs Flackwell - apparently had a new Keeper who performed very well - but the whole team put in a very good shift from what I've read.

Farnham bt league leaders S.Park 1-0 who stay top cos Epsom & Ewell dropped more points H v RPV; Ash lost 1-2 v Camberley.

Frimley Gn continue to impress cantering to a 4-1 win at Cove and are up to 4th
- I was there - the home side have L4 and D1 at home - goodness knows how they've banged in 6 away at both S.Park and Bedfont Sp - actually have won 4 in a row away scoring 18 goals in the process - last night they were dreadfully dozy at the back and not much better coming forward even though they had the majority of possession.
odd H/T experience - crowd, such as it was, filtered noisily into the clubhouse, where they were holding some kind of Bikers meeting - few people got some seriously nasty looks when ordering drinks at the bar or just chatting :shock: - didn't help that at this point Wooney struck for 1-0 - cue loud howls of joy which somewhat disrupted the leather-clad function for quite a while afterwards - most unfortunate they were trying to raise funding for a seriously ill little girl and reading out a very poignant letter as the Cove fans bit their tongues at what was happening at Wembley on the screen.!
:D :?

Other matches last night were League or Floodlit Cup ties - in the latter Ascot slumped out unexpectedly losing 0-1 H v Henley from Div One; Milton bt Burnham Res 5-0 ; Wantage eased past Div One Malmesbury 10-1 8) and in the Challenge Cup Maidenhead Reserves got the better of Holyport 5-4 @ York Rd.

In the Southern League Cup (Red Insure): Thatcham L 0-3 H v Beaconsfield; Sluff won by the same score at Chertsey; Marlow bt Fleet 4-0 whilst Egham hammered Guildford 6-1.

Unsurprisingly only Merthyr got a crowd in three figures - I doubt the ties are drawn out of a hat -quite understandably they look as if they are merely pre-set by location - there are a suspiciously high number of very close match-ups in the first round of this competition.

CCL Premier is wide open this season. Both Hartley Wintney and Hanworth Villa have only lost one game thus far and have games in hand. Last season, 6 defeats = champions and the year before, 5 was the magic number. Considering everyone else has already lost at least 3 including South Park and Epsom, anything can happen.

why does the FA Trophy have qualifying rounds?

I can understand the need for preliminary rounds, to get entrants down to a number that will divide down by two round by round, but why not just call the round after that Round 1?

The FA Cup is a bit different as it always used to start after Christmas, and you can understand the idea that it becomes the "proper" competition once the league sides join, but it seems a little pointless for the Trophy.

I'll be keeping an eye on the results. It's my turn to drive "somewhere" for a random non-league game on the day of the next round, and I think I owe my mate a drive up north somewhere. I quite fancy Wakefield, as they play at Wakefield Trinity's ground, with huge covered terrace behind one goal.
