Sad news on today of all days - Dave Pearcy, aka Dave Programmes, has lost his battle with cancer. For those who have attended a Slough Town game in the last few decades, there is every possibility that you either bought a programme off of him or spoke to him, as he was the friendliest, most talkative chap in the ground. Despite his health woes (which were several) he always turned up, wafting his pile of programmes and chatting up the ladies, and was basically the unofficial mascot for the club.

It is people like Dave who keep football going, and the Slough Town games will be all the poorer for his passing.

RIP Dave

Sad to hear that. Didn't know him myself but knew about him from some Windsor fans as being a well liked and respected guy.

RIP

Basingstoke Town - top of the league!

Would of been better if not for that ridiculous defeat last week when winning heading into injury time!

Thank You for the post about Dave.

Awful news. A real nice person who it would be impossible for anyone would have anything bad to say about. And a real staple of non league characters

Poor Oxford City, thrashed 8-1 at home by AFC Fylde.

Anyone go?

Are they that bad? Are Fylde that good?

- Youngest opted for here – liked the description of food available and ‘Bill’s Diner’ did not disappoint. Match was pretty good too – lots of cut and thrust; Bideford so nearly upset the ‘Generals’ but at 2-3 couldn’t force an equaliser, in spite of constant pressure throughout the 2nd half . Clever formation change by the home side around the 75’ mark, sensibly clogged up the midfield when they looked as if they would be over-run and possibly lose a match they were well in control of, 3-0 up just after H/T. Chesham had ex-Pro Darren Purse pulling the strings at the back but his powers of concentration waned late on and he very nearly dropped his side in it on more than one occasion. Big relief when on loan sub Pearce dashed clear to finish Bideford off.

Molesey 3-0 Westfield‘Moles’ go top on GD from Spelthorne who were in Vase action. Sadly Spelly’s draw at lowly S.Mids Langford means a postponement of the clash between these two due this coming Tuesday, when one or possibly both 100% records from 6 matches each would have gone.
Ashford (Mx) sneak in between these two into 2nd on GD but they have lost one of their 7 matches.

Highmoor Ibis 2-1 Abingdon United H/I take top spot from Flackwell who were in Vase action: the two sides drew at Magpie Lane in midweek.
Highworth Town 2-0 Bracknell Town
Newbury 6-0 Brimscombe & Thrupp - in terms of current league positions this WAS a shock - B&T were surprise early challengers admittedly but Newbury had not started too well again.
Thame United 0-4 Ascot Utd - good result for the Yellamen who have stuttered a bit of late - host Nomads this midweek
Thatcham Town 2-0 Oxford City Nomads - 'Kingfishers' up to 2nd place - former Oxford City (amongst many others) frontman Yashwa Romeo on the score sheet.

... just to throw in a minor pendants point here 8) their record attendance is actually well over 20k for an FA Amateur Cup Final back in the 30s at Champion Hill (roughly current location) but pre-refurb.
- not been myself but apparently the site of a current Sainsbury's nearby covers most of the old 'stadium' area? I also concede that that particular match did not involve Dulwich but was between Kingstonian and Stockton. :P

....well, the club officially claim it as a previous attendance record of 1,835, which was achieved against Southport in the FA Cup in 1998

Probably plenty of other sites about with images of the old stadium but you can imagine how many they probably crammed in back in the day - here's one image of their old Stand.

They moved away from the 'old' Champion Hill in 1992 - and most of it was demolished to make way for a supermarket - in the interim they moved in with Tooting & Mitcham - moving back to a much smaller facility 'next door' later in the 90s. They did regularly reach 4 and even occasionally 5 figure crowds themselves between the wars in the FA Cup.

... the current ground record was indeed 1800 odd v Southport again in the FA Cup 1st Round 98-99.

never been to a Dulwich Hamlet game but I'll wager it's full to the brim with young men in skinny jeans with new beards boring everyone in earshot talking about their favorite real ales.

I once saw someone look like he was having fun at a game. I was so furious i've not been back since. Down with people enjoying themselves!

Royal Rother

There it is, the embodiment of post '96, johnny come lately football fans now trying to rebel against the very culture they created. Pathetic.

I'd rather talk football with a top 4 supporting, SKY subscribing couch potato over these try hards any day.

One of them doesn't even look like he was born before 1996 how dare that kid go to a football game. This is the worst thing about football at ALL levels.

Or its just some people trying to have fun at a non league game where it can be pretty dry in terms of entertainment/atmosphere! Don't go down to Windsor FC they have a MASCOT!!

A thoroughly enjoyable game at Stag Meadow yesterday. Mole Valley fully played their part and it was a lot closer than the 6-0 scoreline would suggest. As for the referee, I felt he let too much go and that it was only a matter of time before it would all kick off. A second for Windsor early in the second half seemed to knock the wind out of the visitors' sails. Some excellent plan by both sides throughout and most pleasing that we scored 3 in the last ten minutes. No showboating, no coasting, no time wasting. Only a desire to score more goals.

I know what you mean re the red but I thought he played a big part in a thoroughly entertaining game by NOT blowing up for everything and of course the fact that nothing did kick off (apart from Mole Valley, lots of times) was a credit to both sets of players.
