Plymouth_Royal He's a tosser. There's no discrediting his record as manager because he's done ok, but he just a nasty pcunt. He's quite arrogant too. I remember when he was with sheff utd in the prem and he come out with this outlandish statement about how he was better than Mourinho. He's got to be off his rocker!!

He meant he works within small budgets.Any fuker given the money Mourinho had could do the same as him,Warnock has never been given the chance.

But Jose's reply was something on the lines of that he was like that but worked his way up to be the manager that can manage a club with bigger potential and more cash.

It's like normal jobs. You start off on a small salary and if you prove yourself you get a higher salary and a bigger role.

Warnock was mearly saying he was better then Mourinho because he works on small budgets. He was being ironic,he said it with a smile on his face FFS

decent article on him here

“Neil Warnock, Arsène Wenger, Rafa Benitez and Alex Ferguson are in the pub. Warnock gets a round in; Wenger gets the next round, then Benitez, then Ferguson. Then Warnock goes to the bar, buys himself a pint and sits down. Wenger, Ferguson and Benitez ask him what the hell is going on. Warnock replies, ‘This is the fifth round, lads, and you are not in it’.”

susieroyal I'd prefer to think that there was a bit more to being successful in football than the behaviour of Warnock. He doesn't come across as intelligent enough to ever be a manager at the top level.

And I'd prefer to think it's pretty obvious to most football fans that there is a lot more to Warnock than some of his OTT rants suggest.

He sometimes appears on Radio 5 Live midweek football shows and is always interesting, honest and erudite about the game.

Indeed. Interview /watch him during or within 30 minutes of the end of a game and he is quite likely to come across as a complete Colin, but at all other times he seems a pretty likeable and amusing bloke to me.

Read your first post then take away your ironic comment. I just answered your original comment and now you're turning it into like it's something i've misunderstood. Warnock hasn't been given the chance because he's not as good as Mourinho... hence why Mourinho can manage a club with a massive budget.

This whole idea of advancing Portsmouth £11m is completely ridiculous and would surely set an incredibly dangerous precedent.

They need £11m because they have been appallingly run and have overspent on players - that's the bottom line.

Burnley on the other hand have tried to do things on a tight budget, in a responsible fashion and, when Coyle said he wanted to spend a pile on new players to make it more likley they would stay up, was told no, which is pretty much why he left.

Maybe Burnley should have turned round to Scudamore and pleaded a case for having the their next trenche of money paid in advance so they could have given it to Coyle to spend.

There is of course zero chance that the sensibly run Burnley would have succeeded in such an approach but they would certainly have been more deserving of special treatment than Portsmouth.

It can't be allowed to happen.

If by some weird and warped reasoning it does happen I am confident that the gradual dribble of fans away from the Premier League offering would sharply accelerate next year.

Wrong thread I reckon RR

Back on topic  anyone who saw Colin's hilarious and extremely clever attempt to call yesterday's ref incompetent without saing the words himself will recognise that he is pcunter of the highest order. He's like the worst kind of idiot on here, thinking he's really clever when in fact he's just a tit

Which is why there have been calls for players and managers to have a longer cooling off period before facing the media after games. Unfortunately, the insatiable appetite of the media and supporters alike suggest that this will not happen. It would also be helpful if match officials could be interviewed after a game.

Maguire Firmly in the anti-Warnock camp. I wouldn't boo him or anything, just think he's an bombastic over-opinionated moron who'll never do anything of note in football.

Yesterday's antics only reinforce this ^^^

I'd hate him to manage a team I supported, just an embarrassment.

Being an intuitive sort of guy I've picked up on the fact that you don't like him much, but do you not accept that 6 promotions is evidence that he has in fact achieved an awful lot of note in football?

Also, do you not think that a lot of this nasty stuff is what spews forth from his mouth in the immediate aftermath of games but that after the blood has cooled he's much more reasonable, constructive and philosophical about it all?

Its this that makes him a manager I wouldn't want managing Reading. You need your manager to be calm under pressure, before, during and after games. I just can't see how he's making logical decisions when the pressure is really on as he's like a 2 year old having a tantrum.

I wouldn't disagree to be honest. Not a bloke I'd want managing my club because of that trait.

However, if it were ever to happen, I'm pretty sure we'd like most of what he would do for the club once he was here.

I said he'll never achieve anything of note in football. You only need to look at the list of clubs he's managed to see that he's not going to cut it at the top level. Yes, I don't think he's entirely without merit as a manager, but he makes a hell of a lot of noise for someone who's spent his life knocking round the lower leagues (with the exception of top flight visits with Notts County and Sheff U, both of whom were relegated).

It's just the long, long history of talking utter shit that does it for me. Loud and ignorant - not a combination I find particularly engaging in any walk of life to be honest.

The paradox is that he's an intellignet, articulate bloke who knows his stuff - he's a qualified ref and if you ever hear him talk he's got very good, coherent, ideas about the game and referees.

But then make him a manager and he turns into a complete tosser. Not sure if it's the way he is or if it's him playing up to the "pantomime villain" persona he's created but it's not big and it's not clever.

Also yesterday ITV were focussing on him and his rages at 5 minute intervals, so he didn't disappoint them.

He spends the entire 90 minutes - other than when he's exploding - with such a deep, stressed frown that I'm sure he's going to have a heart attack any minute. Anyway, I'm on record as being in the pro-Colin camp. I'd rather have a pint with him than most managers.
