soggy biscuit Can I say early on (again) that Gourcuff is a f**king legend. Awesome player and LOLz @ Milan for letting him go by accident and then begging him to return.

What's the story there? I missed that.

Went to Milan as a youngster, didn't make many appearances (though when did looked good) so Milan loaned him to Bordeaux for the season a couple of years back, has a f**king immense season for them and at the end Milan expect him to return. Turns out the Milan manager, owner and seemingly everyone connected with the club didn't know they had put a buy out clause into the loan deal. Milan publicly talk him up stating he is the future of Milan etc, Gourcuff says they should have treated him better had they wanted him to stay, gives them the finger and signs for Bordeaux.

One of my favourite players around Europe. On his day the boy is epic.

OOPS

I have to admit that I've not seen a lot of him, but he didn't really show up last night.

Thought Govou was poor and Henry should have started. French clearly the better team and better players, but played fairly poorly.

Uruguay seemed to be virtually a one man team in Forlan when attacking. Didn't really work together going forward well and had no width. Allowed the french acres of space to get into their half, whereas the french gave them no room at all.

Got shouted at by a French bird in the pub demanding to know why I hate france so much because I was supporting Uruguay.

Why in the world would you have started Henry? And where would you have played him?

He's hardly played for months and is well past his sell by date.

He'd have buried the first chance France had that Govou missed. I think he could have played as one of the wider attackers in place of Govou.

He wouldn't have been in there to get on the end of that cross though.

One thing Henry is not is a right winger, and that he's likely to go to MLS after the WC is over gives you an idea of how good he is these days.

Govou was pretty poor going forward but he puts in a lot of leg work to support the likes of Ribery (who was also woeful) and Gourcuff. Henry is a busted flush these days.

Has anyone ever seen Ribery have a great game? I can remember watching the guy and thinking wow.

I still can't believe just how bad France were.

Saw Henry live at the Nou Camp against Valencia in late March, when he came on with his movement and pace he totally changed the game, but saw none of that last night. Crucial we win our group providing Germany do to, and might create an easyish passage to the Semi's.

I hope you reminded her of Henry's handball and how the French are a bunch of cheats?

No.

My mate asked her how she knew we weren't Uraguayan. I just laughed.
