last man utterly irrelevant

LOL, how is it irrelevant? Uruguay player about to step around the keeper six yards out and stroke into an empty net. You do talk some terrible nonsense sometimes.

Because last man appears nowhere in the rules and has nothing to do with it, as has been pointed out on here a million times. Clear goalscoring opportunity is the relevant bit.

Do you get a clearer opportunity than going round the keeper 6 yards out? Perhaps not for Paul Brayson, but for most others.....

I've got eighty notes on them finishing bottom of the group, and a ton on Uruguay to qualify, so every cloud and all that...

Obviously that's the debateable bit. I happen to think the ball going away from goal, as was the attacker, defenders in the direction the ball is going and the keeper sitting in the middle of the goal provides a fair amount of doubt.

That you are of course perfectly entitled to disagree with, and I expected people to. Its muttering about "last man" that I was pointing out was nonsense.

Hopefully fans of other nations will be equally ungracious when we crash out of England 2018. '"At least we'll see less of those obnoxious, arrogant, offensive England 'fans'."

'There will be no England 2018'. Sometimes the complaints will be false.

The three goals will only sweeten the bitter pill for Uruguay that they failed to get down to 10 men, particularly as the Saffers showed them the way.

Never a red card for me. The attacker had no chance of scoring, he pushed the ball so far away the defenders would have cleared with ease.

The rule should be changed anyway. Unless you are denying a goal, not just an opportunity, pen should suffice. You get punished 3 times otherwise, Pen, down to 10 and player suspended. Dump rule. I think SSC described it as an "ass".

So if they brought in this rule, and you were a defender, about to lose an attacker through on goal, why would you not foul him?

That's 75,000 that'll get confiscated at the gates of English grounds come August then.

Should be punishable by death, if you bring a vuvuzela to a ground. Immediate hangings outside the stadium. Would probably draw bigger crowds too!

I think that's the first time we've ever agreed!
