Credit to Swansea, the first 20 minutes they actually bossed the game, albeit without creating clear cut chances. Fluid passing, good to watch and the pace of Sinclair, Dyer and Britton will cause a lot of teams problems. Danny Graham appears to have a bit of a thankless task this season though. Also impressed by Caulker, seemed to be a very mature player for his 19 years.

I wouldn't say they bossed the game....Man City looked comfortable throughout. Swansea may have had loads of possession but didn't do anything with it - they can have 90% of the ball in games but, as with Arsenal, if they dont put their chances away then they will struggle this season.

Well true, of course. I guess I'm saying relative to the obvious gap between City and Swansea, and given it was a first game at this level for many of the players, I was impressed by their passing and moreover just the way they approached the game. They kept the ball comfortably and kept it moving, not been typical of any of the promoted sides in recent years.

It's a cliche, but its true, though, that if they try to play like that every week, they'll get hammered regularly.

Royalee
winchester_royal In big trouble this season.

Not convinced they are - can see them beating the shit teams although they'll get spanked by the likes of the top 6.

I could not agree more Royalee. Swansea's season will not be decided by their results against the top 6 but more to do with how they get on against the strugglers at the other end of the table. There will be few teams better than Citeh this season and I understand that Swansea showed more than enough in the first 20 minutes to suggest they will be ok. As said on BBCR5L last night, the two 4-0 results this weekend could not have been more different.

And a massive LOL to the usual idiots writing teams off after one game. Muppets the lot of you - fella!

Stop being a twat. I'm not writing them off, I'm just saying I think they might struggle this season. Excuse me for expressing an opinion on a football forum.

Only time will tell obviously, but I don't think Swansea under Rodgers' esteemed management will have the organisation ti survive in this league. They are a poor man's Wigan.

Last nights results say a lot more about Man City then they do Swansea imho; Citeh could have had 8 or 9 last night had it not been for the keeper and for some woeful 1st half finishing - they look a genuine threat this season.

As for Swansea, if they carry on playing like that then they will lose far more than they win; teams like Bolton, Stoke, Wigan etc will bully them in midfield and not allow them the time they need to feed Sinclair and Dyer. It could be a long season for the Swans.

What worked for us in the Premiership was our energy and hassle........the premier sides will be used to teams playing possession football against them, what they aren't used to are players getting in their face and closing the ball down at any given moment.

Swansea need some back bone. Nice passing, but teams in the prem will either out-pass them or knock them over. I actually think they might stay up as Wigan, Norwich, Blackburn and QPR are all worse teams IMHO

I cheered the moment every goal went in the net.

They have tarnished the English premier league and I wish them every failure and the quicker they get their sorry arses back over the seven bridge the better.

If only we had a better day at the office in May.

Yes, I am still bitter.

Do you see?

Whats not to get, some idiot was also claiming de gea was going to be a flop after one mistake which wasn't even that bad. People just like putting silly opinions out there...one game into the season and people make their minds up about certain teams and players?

So we should all just wait until the end of the season and then talk about it all in hindsight?

Right, might as well shut down the board for 10 months then :!:

No, but making a statement based on one game is completely silly. Very ignorant.

Errrrr. Given that I was (un)lucky enough to watch Swansea on a number of occasions last season, as well as having to endure the Rodgers way for a few months here, I feel quite comfortable making my PREDICTION that they will struggle.

In the same way that on another thread there are people writing off Arsenal for the title, and saying QPR will go straight back down.

They've signed players, people said EXACTLY the same about blackpool how they would finish bottom by 20 points...it didn't happen. Reading finished 8th in the prem with a largely unchanged team from the championship. People writing teams off after one game are silly.
