Ian Royal I'd always thought Kean came across as a genuine, intelligent, committed decent guy. Even if he was out of his depth. But this is getting beyond belief. His position is surely utterly untenable now!

Out of interest is there any development opportunities for their stadium location? This is starting to head towards the first hints of destroying the club to sell up land and make money that way.

I'd be amazed if the ground has a positive land value for housing. Maybe a retail park or a supermarket, but prime real estate this ain't!

The Rouge
What have Venky's actually done wrong?

NUffink, andthere lies the problem.....except for sacking a manager who was doing well and was their best chance of keeping them in the division.

Archie's penalty http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/01/15/blackburn-exclusive-the-letter-that-proved-rovers-were-in-crisis150101/

From the associated article:
sportingintelligence [Jerome] Anderson, who is also Steve Kean’s agent, has spoken openly in the past week – in a Sky TV interview – about his involvement at Blackburn in January 2011.

‘We entered last year’s January transfer window and I received a call from the owner of the club saying “We have one or two issues causing us concern. Would you be kind enough to help us through this difficult period?”,’ he said.

In that window, Blackburn signed Ruben Rochina for €450,000 from Barcelona in a deal where Rochina’s agent, Manuel Salamanca Ferrer, received a £1.65m fee.

 :o  :o

Having now actually looked into this story a bit more I probably need to eat a bit of humble pie. Sounds absolutely horrific & Kean must have some dirt on Venky's for him to keep that job. He & his brother are rumoured to be part of the holding company.

Less than 3000 ST's sold as at today. Shocking.

Its probably not helped Kean's cause that the new owners appear to have said nothing to the Blackburn fans for a whille but you cannot blame him for wanting to stay...like most people he'll wait for a pay-off IF sacked.

The man certainly has balls. Yesterday he told a press conference the club is entering an exciting period. I have a funny feeling he thinks they've qualified for the Champions League, not Championship.

Some of the comments on this thread prior to now and on various social media on the night Blackburn were relegated sympathising with Kean have been ignorant in the extreme!

Yeah you're right, he's deserved everything he's got.

Death threats are a more than reasonable course of action in this particular scenario, and I'd like to think that we would have the guts to do the same thing if something similar happened to RFC.

By saying that any sympathy for Kean has been totally ignorant. Sympathy that roots from the threat of violence that he lives with day in, day out. Yes, he should probably quit, and yes he's leading Blackburn down a very dark path, but that doesn't excuse the actions of some Blackburn fans. And I don't think anybody sympathising with the position he finds himself in is being ignorant in the slightest.

The position he has put himself in with some very dubious links to the owners which strike of nepotism. There is difference between stating that on the face of things Kean seems to have plenty of questions to answer and is deserving of some stick and saying that death threats are an acceptable course of action.

He is deserving of some stick, but not of the level that he's receiving. That is why most people have sympathy for him.

Managers have had fearsome stick in the past, I recall the vociferous Branfoot Out campaign at Southampton around 20 years ago. Branfoot eventually quit, abuse stopped. I wonder what stops Kean from doing the same, having abjectly failed on the pitch? Vested interests methinks!

He realises that his career is fcuked, and that this will most likely be his last major pay day. Can't blame him for staying around and hoping for the sack.

W_R have you read any of the articles? It's not about him as a manager, it's the way he's thick as thieves with the owners.

He's dragging the club through the dirt. The Blackburn fans have a right to think the way they do.

My brother's as moderate as they get and he is absolutely fuming. Horrid man.

Yes I have.

I don't care if he's gone around stealing from charity shops, it still doesn't excuse death threats.
