seahawk10 This would be my ideal three to go down:

1. Not us
2. Not us
3. Not us

I will be chuffed if I am 100% right come the end of the season.

  With you on that.

To see Reading on 30 votes as one of the favourites to go down depresses me. I can only hope those votes came from people whe weren't at the match on Saturday.

I'm struggling to work out why there are only 281 votes. Not everyone can have voted for three teams to go down. Doh!
Very surprised Ipswich and Derby don't have more votes.

Really think QPR could come into the reckoning - they should be added to the list.

That must come as a welcome relief to all three teams.

A bad night for us as two of the teams suggested as possible sides to keep us up both won comfortably.

Yes you would have hoped one or both would have lost. There are not many obvious candidates for relegation other than Plymouth and Posh and that is the big worry. The Reading way is to finish in the "highest" relegation spot and get relegated. Lets hope for a change we narrowly avoid the drop.
Our goal difference is crap as well.

BTW Nice work on the poll Plats.

Agree - we needed 8 wins before tonight and we still need 8 wins. Nothing has changed.

Just curious, how many times has the bottom three after 27/28 games REMAINED the bottom three and gone down? Anyone know?

What's the possibility of Preston dropping into real trouble?

Logic problem for pessimists.

Most have said player for player we are not that bad and many blamed Rodgers and his chopping and changing, the too-quick revolution, bad tactics and terrible subs.

Is that reasonable?

We were close to trouble but not actually bottom three?

Most agree we have IMPROVED with Mills coming in and getting better, Ingi seems to be more solid not having to look after Pearce, and we have a very solid right back, and Karacan has been rejuvenated and Bryn is playing his best for a good while.

Shane is slimmer, fitter and starting to score goals. Gylfi remains excellent and must surely be learning every game... we have extra competition for the stoikers with THOR and now Bignall.

Most say that Mac is better at selection, better at tactics, better at subs, better at motivating players

Now if all that is accurate and true, even 80% accurate and true, then surely, we should creep up the table since we weren't quite bottom three material before Mac and are better since Mac took over.

Cannot remember which season, but Millwall were top at Christmas and got relegated.

Despite all of those things snowball (in an attempt to be pleasant an adult with you), there are still arguably selection errors being made and we are still leaking soft goals and failing to take our chances.

Rodgers reign can be roughly summed up into two periods (IMO of course)

Pre Leicester: leaky defence and failure to (on the whole) make good oppotunities to score.
Post QPR: Leaky defence and failure to (on the whole) put away the good opportunities to score we created. This had a short period towards the end where we did start getting some results.

Since McDermott has come in, we have strengtherned our game in plenty of ways and with several players. However, our problems still remain: -> a leaky defence and a failure to put away the good opportunites to score we create.

Also you have to factor in that confidence will not necessarily be the same as it was now. Improvements are a gradual process and we may be too late by the time they kick in enough to consistently put in good game winning performances.

There are also issues with other teams who were below us having shown a bigger improvement than us and the fact that under Rodgers we HAD been in the relegation positions, if not at the time he left, though on his last two games we were showing a trend towards dropping back in(in an insignificant sample of games admittedly).

Such a simple and narrow "logic problem" simply doesn't work with football.

Isn't that predicated rather on assuming that the teams around us also don't improve?
