Victor Meldrew
Pseud O'Nym Egypt playing some excellent stuff, Rooney beginning to lose it, Terry has one of the worst hairdos I've seen on a football pitch for years.

Do you think that is why the cretins are booing him?

No, that's because they get their opinions off the back of the tabloids.

Defoe/Rooney doesn't work then. SWP>>>Walcott.

Two more goals for a player who remains under-rated by a good chunk of England fans, primarily because he looks a bit funny. Very good with the ball at his feet, irrespective of his size, but his height does make his ball skills all the better. Good eye for a pass, stronger than he looks, and scorer of legendary scissor-kick goals.

And ftr, Crouch scored 9 headed goals last season, more than anyone else in the Premier League.

20 goals in 37 games is fantastic - but considering the amount of sub appearances he's made, does anyone know how many minutes he's played? (I'm looking at you Snowball  )

Surely got to be the best minutes per goal ratio in International football today?

SLAMMED  @ England's second goal. Goalkeeper made an over dramatic diving save for Millner's shot and then let the ball slip through his hands like a bar of soap for SWP's.

Townsend claiming he should have caught the first one and stayed on his feet was laughable. He should have parried it safe and further to the side, and he either should have kept his feet or gone down more tidily so he could get back up quicker.

But he was foxed by the swerve on SWP's shot and by being a little off balance and disorientated from only just getting up. Went too far one way not seeing the swerve and then couldn't get enough on it.

In "proper" international football it'll be up with the best - didn't some Aussie score 15 goals in the game when they trounced American Samoa 30 odd - 0?

Walcott - Fu cking pony. A sprinter who cannot play football. It will be a disgrace if he goes to SA.

On current form, Milner is a better player than Lampard and Gerrard. Good competition in that area and Milner can play anywhere.

Gerrard's had his worst season for as long as I can remember, only 6 goals....didn't look interested at all this evening either.

Sorry mate, i was making some soup and only caught the second half, i needn't have worried, 2 goals, some fancy footwork, a back flick or 3, through balls, great chest control and the highest bicycle kick you will ever see, all in all, stuff dreams are made of for anyone else, standard stuff for Ladders, 4 goals behind Sir Geoff Hurst.

I think I heard this morning that Crounch scores a goal for Engerlund about 100 minutes played.

Didn't see last nights game, was Terry boo'd?

Meanwhile in Germany, Lukas Podolski is reported to be in trouble after threatening a journalist during a post match interview. Having not enjoyed the line of questioning he asked the journalist to step outside and resolve their differences.

In the same match, Maradonna stormed out of the press conference because he thought he was being disrespected by Germany as he claims they put a nobody from backroom staff as their reprisentative, turns out it was actually a German player that Maradonna just didn't know and he was forced to return and apologise.

What I saw of Milner was that he played very well indeed - some credit on SWPs goal and a few decent tackles. Very hard working performance.

Victor Meldrew 3 goals all scored by the subs-not sure what that says other than that SWP and Crouch have done their chances no harm whereas on tonight's showing Walcott,Defoe,Upson and Brown have gone back a few steps.

'greed, the makeshift defence looked shaky and almost afraid of tackling. I saw Terry's match stats this morning - he attempted one tackle all game and failed. Upson embarassing for their goal and not much better afterwards. Walcott overhit all the balls he was planing to chase after, Brown unable to pass, tackle or cross. SWP gave the ball away a lot but still took his chance well. Lampard and Gerrard were poor again with Lampard in particular missing two great chances, one hit lamely straight at the keeper, the other mishit into the ground and bounced over the goal.

Crouch, Carrick and Milner had good games, so maybe Fabio will drop Defoe, Lampard and Gerrard!

I thought Egypt looked pretty decent and only lost because they ran out of steam on a heavy Wembley pitch. We were obviously pacing ourselves.

First half was a bit shit. Walcott was a useless sack of turds who kept losing the ball - I don't want to see him on the plane to South Africa. SWP for the third goal, take note Walcott, that's f*cking how to do it. The other thing I noticed was that we seemed to be trying to go the right hand as we had nobody on the left apart from Baines. Who was meant to be playing in front of Baines? Gerrard, I think. Milner came on and was there occasionally - why didn't Gerrard do that? The second goal came from the left and Milner had a part in it. I like the look of Milner and I think he should be on the plane to South Africa. I'm not so sure about Upson, he made a mistake for their goal by slipping up. Was it the Wembley turf that made him slip?

Good performance last night.

Played well 1st half, created 4 or 5 very good chances, plus another 2 or 3 set plays in areas that we should have made more of.

Stuck our chances away 2nd half.

Think JD did Heskey's chances of starting a world of good. Really cant see him going Defoe and Rooney up front at the world cup.

Badly need Rio/Johnson/Cole back though.

Last night won't have shown Capello anything he didn't already know.

Baines is not an international footballer.

Lennon will be in the starting XI come June.

Defoe is nothing more than an impact sub.

Crouch will come on against the lesser nations and score.

Decent work out, and with Carrick in the midfield it was a lot more fluent.

Firstly, Egypt looked pretty good. The lad they were creaming themselves over on the commentry was actually very useful and I'd imagine he'll be one the papers start to talk about coming here in the summer after that performance.

I didn't realise Federici had switch from playing Australia to Egypt though!

As for England. Confirmed a few things, Milner will be a shoe in for the squad and should really be knocking on the door for the starting XI. The right wing spot is still an issue because we seem to be relying on these sprinters who occassionally get a run of form when they remember how to control and kick a football (SWP, Lennon, Walcott...they're all the same, quick but lacking in a bit of real quality on the ball).

The back four looks a weakness if we don't have our first choices available. I do hope Brown doesn't go to the World Cup, he just isn't good enough and I'd rather take pretty much anyone over Brown. Richards needs to have a good run of form to claim the place as backup to Johnson.

We did alrigth though, and as much as I like the way Carrick plays I can't see Capello changing his midfield too much. At the same time, the side is crying out for Joe Cole to be involved for me. I've always advocated him as backup to Rooney if he's playing the hole, but it seems he might miss out for some strange reason.

Up tops Heskey, Rooney and Crouch must now be definates for the squad. I've never been convinced C Cole will make it at this level and I'd say his chances are slipping away now.

Interesting game at times though.
