papereyes I think finerain's point is that at the same age (I'm imagining 1993 through to 1995, ish), United were relatively mediocre in Europe and I can't remember Giggs shining in particular.

I don't think he was around when they won the ECWC.

By the time United won it, Giggs would have been mid-20s.

United won the ECWC in 1991 - if Giggs was in his mid 20's that makes him ....................... about early 40's

Back to earth with a bang today. A couple of good balls, a few Row Z efforts and well marshalled by the Bolton defence.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Bale, but the fourth estate have done a bit of a job in over-hyping his performances this season (aside from the matches against Inter where he was clearly outstanding)

Fair enough your probably right about Utd in Euro at comparative ages, I do think the doing it to the current champions is over playing it, but I'd still take Giggs over Bale at similar ages as Giggs was already a really top drawer and consistent performer.

I see Spurs fans returned to form last night by booing their own players again.

They're like a premier league version of us TBF.

Totally agreed.

I watched the game live on the 'tinternet, and thought Spurs were excellent for most of the game. Couldn't believe the boo's at the end. Sunderland set out their stall to stop Bale, and with no pace from Bentley on the other side, Spurs just couldn't break them down.

As much as I like him, Bale is a one trick pony, so can never be considered as world class.

Sublime cross for Pav's goal on Saturday.

And LOL for the boo's against Sunderland - seeing as they've just demolished Chelsea!

Can't remember where I nicked this from, but Bale's goals and assists record this season is matched by Marlon Harewood. Why is the Blackpool Beluga not being fêted to any extent?

From what I can see Bale has one more assist in the Premier League than Harewood, who I don't think played in Blackpool's only cup game this year, the defeat at Milton Keynes.

I'm sure everybody can recall Bale's performances in cup competitions so far this season.

Not according to the Premier League site - that claims they're level.

I'm a bit hazy on the cup games... I remember Gretar Steinsson outshining him at the Reebok though...
