FiNeRaIn They've signed players, people said EXACTLY the same about blackpool how they would finish bottom by 20 points...it didn't happen. Reading finished 8th in the prem with a largely unchanged team from the championship. People writing teams off after one game are silly.

Oh yes, lets look at Swansea's signings:

Lita - Arrogant trouble maker who hasn't done it consistently for years.
Routledge - Never made it at premiership level
Caulker - Untried CB who hadn't played at this level before last night.
Graham - Decent goal scorer for Watford, how he will do in the premiership is anyone's guess, but personally I think he might struggle.
Vorn - Admittedly looks a decent buy, but there's only so much a keeper can do.

Not sure who else they've signed, but those are the ones i can remember, and TBH they wouldn't fill me with much confidence.

I'm not 'writing them off', I'm just saying I think they'll struggle, it's a prediction, just like the predictions that every other football fan makes before the start of a new season.

If you disagree then fair enough, but let's try and keep the name calling at a minimum is all i'm trying to say

Thought they would struggle if they went up before they were promoted, thought they would struggle when they went up before their signings, thought they'd struggle after I saw their signings, still think they'll struggle after their first game.

They play the wrong brand of football to compete in the Premier League as newbies. They simply won't convert enough of their play into goal, and they won't get nearly as much of the play as they enjoyed last season, and they'll get punished at the back more.

They won't do a Derby / Sunderland - but I'm confident they'll be in the bottom 5 and think they'll be relegated. Their chances really depend on a Plan B from Rodgers and him not getting stubborn and sticking to his Plan A because they play 10 - 20 minutes of pretty football in each poor result.

I doubt it, especially clubs that sell their best players.

Shame, really. Would be nice to see them survive with their brand of football, but think you'll be proved right.

No, but they didn't finish bottom by 20 points..they went down on the last day, so that's a silly post, not sure why you wrote it.

I think even Royalee would agree that the Swansea team that went up were not a patch on the class of '05/'06

We really are a bunch of hypocritical w*nkers, aren't we.

I can only assume much of the posts on this thread are down to a) bitterness that they utterly deserved to beat us at Wembley, or b) that Brendan Rodgers is their manager. As a club Swansea are completely ill-equipped for the Premier League, and their squad is on a par with Blackpool's last year, so what the hell can be wrong with them playing fluid, passing football, with some exciting, pacy players, and seeing how they end up? Do we really need another Stoke, and should Swansea be criticised for not playing like them?

winchester_royal Routledge - Never made it at premiership level

Was  to hear the commentator on Sky say he's played 100 games in the Premiership.

Nought against Swansea but my prediction was that despite the attractive football they play, they'll go down with QPR. I'm not taking much from the first game - plenty of time left but still...Norwich seemed the most likely to grind out the kind of results to keep them there and that's still where my money would be to stay up of the three of them.

Norwich remind me a little bit of us in the Premiership......not the best footballing wise, but know how to work as a team and get stuck in. QPR and Swansea wont be able to play their football they did last season

Nothing against them, I just think they'll go down.

I don't think Chelsea will win the title this season. Does this make me possess a bitter, irrational hatred of them too?

Was thinking the same thing. Swansea remind me of West Brom under Mowbray - every week they'd be praised for their attacking and passing but ultimately didn't have the quality to stay up. And every week the manager would be saying how "proud" he was and how there was "improvement" and that they were "learning". The problem is that you spend too much to time learning in the Premier League and you're relegated by Christmas. I genuinely wish Rodgers the best but can't see them staying up.

I think hatred of Chelsea is perfectly rational, tbh.
