Stuka Are their any clubs who have ever downsized to a smaller stadium to better reflect their fanbase/ambitions?

Would make more sense for some clubs these days.

Juventus just have.

Not suggesting there's much Darlo could have learned from them though.

Torino even more so, moving from the then 60,000 Delle Alpi to a 25,000 seater stadium that was built as part of the Winter Olympics.

Meadowbank Thistle moved out of the Meadowbank stadium to Livingston.

As for Darlington, if you were a fan would you be wanting the club to survive in its current state? Surely for the long term they are betting off reforming at Step 4/5? I doubt Chester, Halifax and Telford fans have too many regrets about folding and reforming.

QPR also moved out of White City, while Leyton Orient moved out of a ground larger than Brisbane Road ever was before moving there. They also tried playing home games at Wembley, although only twice before realising it was a disaster.

The big problem for Darlington is that their re-birth would be more like Accrington Stanley or Bradford Park Avenue than Chester or Halifax. They won't be able to re-from playing at their current ground as they can't afford to, and the only other ground in the town they could use is Darlington Railway Athletic's ground, which is about as basic as they get.

Short term a reformed club could groundshare somewhere like Bishop Aukland or Newton Aycliffe and there is scope to redevelop Feethams to a half decent non league standard

darlington have received funds to continue for the next three matches. i'm not sure what they're going to do for a team. the playing staff and manager have all been released.

They don't own Feethams. I believe the cricket club do, and they aren't keen on letting them back as they want to sell the land.

Feethams has been bulldozed anyway, and beyond one small roof, there's nothing left.

Pretty sure I read somewhere about a year ago that the independant supporters' club had done a feasibility study of returning to Feethams with temporary stands and the council and the cricket club were largely supportive.

EDIT - not quite right, the cricket club were not favourable but there is an issue with the land being donated in the 19th Century on the condition that it is used for sporting purposes

Why are these kinds of sites always on btinternet? The ground is as historic as the internet use.

and if so (and during this time)

What is he point of their opponents even bothering to "turn-up", only to have their points removed, should Darlo's record be expunged?

Without clubs like Darlington, your beloved local team, Man Utd, wouldn't exist. Its probably escaped your attention but you need opposition to play games. Quite why people that love football should be referred to as "mongdivs" escapes me tbh. Then again I enjoy football for the game and the craic with my friends in the pub. I guess if you enjoy it for battering someone and jibbing a hotel room for the night then you've probably got a different perspective on football. Not saying you have of course.

darlington kick-off delayed due to crowd congestion. good to see their fans coming out in numbers to support the club. i hope they get some good news soon regarding a new buyer.
