Ian Royal It's a travesty the cynical cheating Italians have more World Cup titles than them.

Did you ever see the likes of Klinsmann and Muller play? And I think it's a travesty that the Dutch have never won the tournament at all...

He probably hasn't, selective memory is such a wonderful thing

I noticed Ian's amnesia. Still the Germans are a credit to the World Cup this time. The Italians were all over the place and the Dutch have been cynical at best.

Difficult for people not to want the Germans to succeed.

Yes I did. I'm fairly obviously biased. But the Germans are currently playing football exactly the way it should be played IMO. This team certainly aren't cheats, whereas the Italians shouldn't have been anywhere near the last final, let alone winning it.

I think the Dutch are certainly good enough to win the tournament, and won't be unhappy if they do. I'd just prefer to keep the World Club winners club a little more exclusive personally. And I've been supporting Germany from the start (bar their game against England - foolishly).

Much as I've enjoyed watching Germany throughout this --and it's well clear by now if it wasn't already so that the defeat to Serbia was an aberr7ion-- they're far from unschooled in the art of, ahem, gaining an advantage by making the most of minimal contact, clipping their own heels in midair to win free-kicks and so forth, and yesterday was no exception

Of course, others do it, and a good few on a wholly other order of magnitude, but the point here is that the Germans ain't exactly choirboys themselves

Just sayin', and nothing whatsoever against 'em --indeed, I'm just about hoping that they win the whole thing at this point if they can do it in impressive style, and I've got vague plans to join in on the celebr7ions in the local German model neighbourhood should they win the thing next Sunday in the late afternoon my time

Presumably the dodgy penalty they got against the Aussies.

How about the red card for Materazzi that shouldn't have been given, swings and roundabouts.

I agree - although that's what I assumed he was referring to.

leon i think your user name tells us everything we need to know about your grip on reality ( give you a clue - the americans won the first one and the russians the second one)

Ahem. In the first one the Americans turned up in 1917. To say they won it is a little disrespectful to the hundreds of thousands of British, French and Commonwealth people who had already died. And in the second they got there a little earlier, but still over two years late - and there wasn't much evidence of them in North Africa. I suppose the Russians invaded Normandy and fought their way to Berlin.

By all means criticise Little Englander feelings, but please don't oversimplify history just to score points.

You try and sum up 11 years of war in 12 words whilst fundamentally undermining a man's user name. At one in the morning. It's tricky.
