Some of you will no doubt reject this out of hand, but others may find this illuminating reading.

I actually had a lot of sympathy with the inital tale, until that little boy from LIberty got involved

Silver Fox I say I'm interested in human rights, but actually I'm only interested in my own, not anyone else's

Long agrees: "I am surprised that we see as few complaints and referrals as we do from policing of football matches.

Maybe there just aren't as many incidents as the FSF would have us believe.

When RFC were in the premiership and the police presence at the railway station was greater, I often felt more intimidated by the police and their approach than I ever did by away fans.

Put simply, the police who do football are by and large a bunch of idiots who are more keen for the trouble than those they police

All the studies of crowd psychology and football violence show that an exaggerated, visible police presence actually leads to more incidents than little or no police. Obviously not having a police presence is not an option at a select few matches each year but generally it is best to avoid high levels of visible police.

How about having a police presence in plain clothes to avoid the initial confrontation ?

Then, if anything kicks off, they can have a strap-on-your-head blue light to indicate who they are !!

I'm actually fairly attracted to Shami Chakrabarti. Does that mean I should join the priesthood?
