'Nited fans always used to claim that City were an irrelevance...not any more it seems. The playground bullies of English football getting a taste of their own medicine pretty soon.

I've got no truck with Man City, unless they eventually manage to buy silverware, but I did chortle rather a lot at the second goal they conceded yesterday!

Any neutral that wants Manchester City to win anything is a total spastic. They are an absolute footballing abomination

Would make me feel more sick than watching the Chelsea vs Portsmouth FA cup final

So you hate any club where a rich owner comes in a saves the club?

Why do you support Reading then?

I gave up hating teams because they are 'buying success' a while back. Every club in the football league that is losing money is pretty much doing it, just because one is doing it to a more extreme extent than the rest doesn't sudenly make them disgracefull and everyone else ok.

Situation is a bit different, NFA. JM came in so we would still have a club and at least try to compete on a level playing field. The Sheikhs have come in and turned football on its head by throwing the kind of money around that makes it almost impossible for anyone to compete with them. I don't buy this argument that you get from the City fans that "don't you think it's great to see another name in the frame" or "surely it's better to have a big 5 rather than a big 4?". Well, no actually. I'd much rather the big 5 were brought back into line with the rest of the competition.

It's funny how so many mock Scottish football for the lack of true competition. From where I stand, I don't see the PL as being much better on that score.

I don't have a problem with them having rich owners but the way they are going about by looking for a quick fix by buying every half decent player that comes on the market then kicking him out if he hasn't done anything after 6 months. When an average player like Toure is is on £200,000 a week you just begin to wonder where football is going and the impact it has on football in general. I for one hope they fail just to show that money can't buy success but as Blackburn in the 90's and Chelsea have proved sadly it can.

Luckily, the on-field fights they seem to be regularly having just seem to prove that money can buy the best players in the world but it takes more than that to actually buy a *team*.

'Save' can mean numerous things Floyd. I mean Man City certainly weren't heading for success before the Arab chap took over. So, if and when they win a trophy, he's definitely saved them from obscurity.

Indeed - Shinawatra's money had been frozen and one of the directors had to pay the wages.

The thing to remember about MCFC is that they have no actual assets apart from the players. Not sure about the Carrington training ground these days (and they are building a new one nearer to CMS), but the stadium is Council owned so it's just really players and the "brand" - nothing concrete.
