A piece on Gylfi on Icelandic TV

An anchorwoman took a trip to see Gylfi in Hoffenheim. Ofcourse it's all in Icelandic, but to be honest the interview bits themselves aren't really interesting at all. Just talking about the small size of the town he's living in and what in the heck he does during his time off, if he felt any pressures caused by the price Hoffenheim brought him in for, what it's like having been away from home playing football since the age of 15 and how he got his start in football.

What I figured you guys might be interested in is the clips in between of a lot of his goals, many in a Reading shirt (both youth team/reserves as well as full squad) and a few really old ones of him playing before going away to England (I'm guessing those are home videos from his parents or something) It's an interesting watch for anybody who's a Gylfi fan.

Enjoy

Having seen Reading lost to Man City this afternoon, I could not help think about how different it could have been with Gylfi in the side. A great footballer and, by the looks of things, very level headed.

Thomas L'Heureux That boy is a sicko.

As a follow up to this, another station is now doing a 7 part series on the U21 side in anticipation of the U21 Euros. First of their player profiles was Gylfi. They also visited him in Hoffenheim, where a little it of the same stuff was covered. What made me chuckle because I actually remembered this comment or at least a similar one having been made on this post, was the fact that Gylfi, lacking a security system in his new digs, sleeps with a badass knife on his bedside table for protection!

I'm hoping the episodes will be accessible online on the station's site, if that ends up happening I'll post a link to this episode if anyone is interested in watching. They showed a few clips of Gylfi playing at Reading.

I started designing a series of RFC artworks earlier in the season and began one of Gyfi. I didn't have the heart to remove it from the series when he left us so it's been finished and will be included in the final set when the rest are complete. Obviously this is a personal project and paying jobs have dictated that finishing the series has taken longer than expected, but I should be ready to upload them all soon.

Glyfi's goal against Leicester proved to be pretty important so I'm happy to include him in the set.

Not really mate, it's work for my portfolio. Agencies like to see self-initiated projects as well as client-based work. It's not as though I'm some love-struck teenager making a shrine or something, my work is actually pretty skillz.

Shame we couldn't have sold him and loaned him back this season, would've made sense.
