Clubs that you just love.

by Barry the bird boggler » 09 Nov 2011 10:23

OK, let's be positive for once, other than Reading, clubs that you just love - with reasons, however stupid.

Alloa - Love the name
Inverness CT - Love the place
Truro City - Love the area
Liverpool - supported from the 1971 FA Cup Final because they lost and I felt sorry for them
Rochdale - because they just don't ever do anything

Northampton - for always getting re-elected
Everton - loved watching them in the 80s, brilliant ground, wooden seats, unlucky re Euro-ban

Liverpool - Grew up supporting them. Kicking balloons around my house pretending to be Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, John Barnes. It was United or Liverpool in our family and I didn't want to join the unwashed.

Stranraer - My Grandad played for them.

AFC Wimbledon - They were very hard done by by that far kunt Winkleman and the FA for allowing the move to Milton Keynes. Delighted for them getting back to the Football League and fingers crossed they'll pass MK Dons in the near future.

This. I always wanted to be Peter Beardsley.

No other club really.

Currently admire Swansea for their achievements in reaching the PL, and contrary they have done so playing good football, that has to be commended. Unlike many on here I like that they have kept that brand of football in the top division, and for now it is seeing them by just nicely.

Likewise Stoke. They play horrible football, but for many seasons they were playing the same division as us, both Championship and League One iirc, both clubs grew and then we left them behind, only to watch them passing us the other way as we went down. It’s a credit to Pulis that they are still in the PL and not looking like relegation candidates.

Rochdale - They were very good to me when I was doing my sports journalism degree in Leeds, and would always invite us along to report/commentate on matches. Have even been to a few games since leaving Uni and moving back down south, and always look out for their scores on a Saturday.

Crewe - More admiration than love I suppose...always respected their youth policy and Dario Gradi's management. The 4-3 win at Gresty Road in our promotion season was one of my favourite RFC away days too.

Whyteleafe - My local team growing up, would go and watch them if Reading weren't playing. Ryman League football at its finest.

Bin dippers > the United fans in my family, all of which are women that screached with every goal scored.

Bury.

Good pubs local to the ground, good meat and potato pie, and good private railway with 2 x Class 50 and a Deltic.

Plus the black pudding at the market.

Oh and Brentford. Love Griffin Park, we never seemed to lose against them and for all the personnel they have supplied us over the years
