BT in talks with ITV about letting them show the odd game next year for free based around helping them 'grow their brand'

Apparently BT decided that lack of exposure was the reason others have failed in the past, this is their way of tackling it

This is similar to the ESPN "free" weekend, often got a PL game, an Italian game and a German one....

There was an OFCOM judgement a year or so ago - PL rightholders have to sell wholesale rights onto other broadcasters. That's why you've been able to gets Sky's matches on BT Vision & Virgin Media - although not in HD and with assorted red-button add-ons missing.

This may be a similar thing.
