Barely thread worthy but the flicking of the vs at the po po by both clubs here raised a smile.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if they get a l8 kick off and Northumbria po po say "we told you we're not doing it" - then what? Bring in po po from elsewhere in the country?

I genuinely have no idea how serious the situation outside the ground is for this derby? Is it generally very police intensive?

And maybe the wrong place to ask this, but which top flight clashes are the ones that see largest police presences?

LOL @ Newcastle and Sunderland getting a cob on about this. If your supporters could behave themselves when this fixture - a regional celebration of mediocrity if ever there was one - comes about then the matches could be held at whatever time you like :!:

Starfish And maybe the wrong place to ask this, but which top flight clashes are the ones that see largest police presences?

I'd hazard a guess at the top 3 being:
United v Liverpool
Spurs v Chelsea
Spurs v West Ham

Definitely Cardiff - Swansea. They genuinely hate each other in a way Spurs and Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton (especially) and United - City really don't.

Its cos most people who are Arsenal fans have Spurs fans who are mates as they're from the same area and vice versa
Same with Utd/City and Liverpool/Everton

I still don't think there'd be as many Old Bill deployed for this game as there is for one of the 3 I've mentioned. For a starter, they've got greater control of the fans as it's a bubble trip so should require less police. Whereas you couldn't do a London derby as a bubble match.

Back to the original post

What would the old bill do if they were drawn together in the Cup - especially the league cup where they are all evening games

It'd have to be played at that time, just like Spurs vs West Ham was last month m8 (& has a larger police presence)

This is the point Newcastle and Sunderland are making

They want an evening kick off and the po-po are saying they can't do that....

So back in the 70s and 80s when punch ups were de riguer at the footie, just how did Northumbria plod manage with 3 pm kick offs - or were all Newcastle and Sunderland fans good as gold. Compare it today when most supporters have now grown up and it's all seater stadia and now they can't cope
