Newcastle fans

by PieEater » 20 Apr 2015 11:30

I've always liked the Geordies but their fans must be the most stupid around. First with Sack Pardew, after which the team tanked and now they want Ashley out after him pumping in millions.

They're like spoiled children with delusions of grandeur - get used to being a mid table team.

They're like a smaller version of Brighton.

Seems to be inherent in NE support. Sunderland are just as deluded. The fact is that Newcastle is just a mid table PL team and Sunderland is always going to be PL relegation/Championship promotion battlers

I kinda agree with them though. They've seen the club reveal they've got millions sat in the bank, their best players were all sold and not replaced. A club of that size and fan base they should be doing better. It seems Ashley is happy to take mid-table every season.

I find them contemptible. I am praying that Hull / Leicester / Sunderland all pick up a couple of wins & drag them back in.

I would love it, LOVE it if they went down.

Much as it sticks in the throat they were lucky to have Pardew.

I think their attitudes would have been massively different if Pards and Ashley weren't dodgy soft London shites.

They do have a somewhat over-inflated opinion of their place in football. Although hard to blame them with the numbers they pull in and passion they show.

What top domestic comp have they won in the last 75 years? Couple of good seasons in the mid 90's and feck all since then.

Even our prem record against them is pretty decent played 6, won 3, drawn 1

They've spent a fair amount on players this season, haven't they?

I'm not sure how reliable this site is but according to this, they've spent nearly £40m this season.

Could be bullshit though

That's only 4.

To be fair they just don't want cockney Ashley messing around with their club.

They want a someone like Sir Jack Hall, one of them with a shed load of money and a willingness to throw a load of it at their team. It's not much different to the hoards of Reading fans who've had a go at Madejski over the years or Zingaravich in some ways. They pay their money in the hope that the club is going to challenge but under Ashley all they've really been interested in is making money and doing enough to stay in the Premier League. That's why Pardew left.

In terms of the club itself, if all was equal, and they could turn their passion and support into results then they'd be top 4/top 6 really wouldn't they? They're something like the 19th richest club in Europe but have never lived up to the potential. I would put some of the blame for that on the fickleness of the fans though, they really don't help things.

A timely update from the Swiss Ramble, but you can see how Ashley has turned around the clubs finances (or rather the effect of the extra PL cash)
