Liverpool or Milan - who do you want to win?

by TBM » 23 May 2007 10:58

According to Spacey, we're allowed to "support" a team from another country if they are playing against an English team.....sooooooooooooo, as the title says, who do you want to win tonight?

Milan for me. Good attacking side, enjoy possesion of the ball and enjoy scoring proper goals. Liverpool will go into the game hugely defensive playing 4-5-1 with 10 men behidn the ball. The gameplan is to get gerrard within range so he can attempt a 30 yarder, if that fails penalties will do.

Liverpool.

Our international team is a joke, so the club sides doing well will give the English some minute form of national pride.

This argument tends to come round every year - and people seem to change their mind depending on which team is representing the English league. It seems to me that people take the high ground by suggesting everyone should want the English side to win. I think there would be very few people who would "support" all four of the Champions League teams if they were in the final against A N Other European side, eg, who would be "supporting" Chelsea or Man Utd against Ajax or Schalke? As far as I'm concerned, I support Reading (and England, unfortunately) and have the right to be neutral (ie, not swayed by geography) in watching any other game - more often than not making an assessment on the players involved, or the style of play used in the match. Saying that somebody should support Liverpool over Milan because one team is from England, is similar to saying that one should support Italy over Brazil in the world cup because Italy is in Europe. Each to their own.

Milan - after the game against them at Anfield, I now can't stand them. Would love it if Milan stuck 3 or 4 past them.

I would support any other team in a final against Milan* due to the fact that I believe they should never have even been given the opportunity to enter the competition.

*Ok, except Juve, Lazio, Fiorentina

I hope football is the winner.

Failing that, Liverpool.

I'm normally very pro-English, plus the whole AC Milan affair (being re-instated in the summer) leaves a much worse aftertaste than the whole Tevez thing but i still can't get over my dislike of Liverpool.

milan.

Won't be watching the game but hope Liverpool do it.

An excellent club and by far the most welcoming of the Big 4 last season.

On a par with Man Utd in terms of heritage and Gerrard is the best English player currently.

Agree that Milan's inclusion in the competition is wrong so Liverpool occupy the moral high ground as well...

Sharpy in europe? who..

theres something called a league mate, you have to have a manager with ambition to want to win it, not some spanish spastic who just buys the next most hyped spanish 'wonderkid' only to ruin the lads career and sell him off. last 10 years of liverpool has been ultimately unsuccessful, one champions league, uefa cup, and a few domestic cups? moral highground, they shouldn't even have played last year because they didn't qualify, infact they were never domestic champions. rafa would have a heart attack if it was required to win the premiership.
