Craig Bellamy

Why do people continue to buy him?

1) He won't be at your club for longer than 18 months
2) He won't go 5 games without getting injured. Think he only played something like 27 times for West Ham.
3) He has an attitude problem
4) His goal scoring record isn't even that good.

I'm sure this deal is going to persuade Kaka to come....

I'd always thought his record was good, when he had a run in a side without strop or injury or being played as a winger or being in court for beating up a woman.

But its not, really, is it?

He always looks better as a big fish in a small pond (spells at Celtic, Blackburn, under Robson at Newcastle). I think that's because he's a gobsh1te.

Yeah exactly, he looks good in the odd game but that's it. I think the best he has ever played was under Hughes at Blackburn which might explain him going to Man City. But when you looks at the transfer fees that clubs have paid for him I just find it staggering.

Hughes was his boss when he was in very good form for Wales around 2002 - 2004.

Yeah thats true, although I can't see Hughes being at Man City next season so I'll give him a year before he wants to go to Tottenham.

Bellamy is exactly the kind of player City need though....i think he'll do well for them, better than Jo thats for sure!

I would have thought a defender is exactly the kind of player they need. If I were them I'd more excited about Daniel Sturridge coming through than buying in that waste of space

I don't disagree with too much that you say, TBM, but how exactly did you come to the above conclusion?

Bellamy is injury-prone, disruptive, and not really that great a player. When you consider City already have Robinho, Wright-Philips, Ireland, Michael Johnson, Elano, etc, what would Bellamy really add?

Those players each have pace, a good touch, and are all capable of scoring goals. In my opinion, they need a player who's slightly different to what they have already, and Bellamy isn't too dissimilar in my eyes.

As boy185 said, suring up their defence or finding a combative holding player would be more beneficial, especially if the likes of Kaka are on their way.

Funny that you should chose Ole Gunnar Solskjær to compare a live style with, a pleyer who had to retire early, due to injury.

I can see Johnson & Elano going to be honest....plus those are all midfield players - i can see Bellamy playing upfront as a striker. i just think City (under Mark Hughes) will get the best out of him - the team has pace and a good attacking flair which i reckon suits his game.

Ideal Sports scientists say it takes a top athlete two months to recover from one saturday-night-binge,

Hmmmm, that's not very good, is it? I'm sure some of us can recover from it in 24 hours.

As Bobby Robson once said, "He's the only man I know who could start an argument with himself".

Says it all.

Ideal FYI he suffered his injury when sliding onto his knees celebrating a goal against Bayern Munich

.

I always thought he did it streching to actually score the goal, didn't realise it was the celebration

Ideal ..who was known as a thorough professional, who never complained when benched, trained seriously to recover from his injury and came back to play 18 months later.. clearly you don't know what you're talking about.

You don’t have to list Solskjaer’s credentials to me mate, I think the guy is a legend. I just found it odd that you chose him though. It also took longer than 18 months for him to get over his injury properly. He got injured in the 2003/2004 season and played just 2 games before coming back for the last time in 2006/2007.

I don’t think the science stuff holds too much weight either. Obviously drinking effects fitness and performance but you can look at someone like Steve Bruce who was a known drinker but who never got injured and compare to the squeaky clean Michael Owen.
