Starts to fall apart after the top 3 (which would be hard to argue against).

Newcastle and Man City have won diddly-squat between them

How the hell can you put Newcastle in 4th and Villa in 9th, considering:

Newcastle
6 FA Cup winners
0 European winners
4 Top Division champions
0 League Cup winners

Villa
7 FA Cup Winners
1 European winners (European Cup)
7 Top Division champions
5 League Cup winners

Well, you might remember I did a database that calculated the rankings of the most successful clubs in England (and Wales). This is the top 20 from it. Reading is not in it, unfortunately.

1 Liverpool
2 Manchester United
3 Arsenal
4 Aston Villa
5 Everton
6 Tottenham Hotspur
7 Newcastle United
8 Sunderland
9 Manchester City
10 Blackburn Rovers
11 Chelsea
12 Sheffield Wednesday
13 West Bromwich Albion
14 Nottingham Forest
15 Wolverhampton Wanderers
16 Derby County
17 Bolton Wanderers
18 Sheffield United
19 Preston North End
20 Burnley

What do you mean unfortunately. You'd have to be a borderline mong to think that Reading were anywhere near to being one of England's top 20 clubs historically.

I did say that my table was based on success, not history. Reading haven't won enough to be anywhere near the top 20. I said unfortunately, because I obviously would like them to be there, not that I thought that they should be there.

But im sure if Villa had a big enough stadium they too could get 50k attendances.

honours > attendances

Hmmmmm, in the last 20 years, Villa have:

-been in the top flight all the time
-won a league cup (beat Leeds)
-Been in the FA Cup final and lost (to Chelsea)
-Finished as runners up twice and finished 4th once.

And in the last 20 years Newcastle have:

-been relegated to the old division 2 and spent 4 seasons in it.
- been in the FA Cup final twice and lost
- finished as runners up twice, 3rd twice and fourth once.

Draw your own conclusions there....

Wasn't it Utd they beat in the League Cup final?

Villa also beat RFC 2-1 in the last game of the 70/71 season to relegate us to the 4th div for the first time ever, bitter, not me.

I n all honesty it is time one of the Brum clubs moved to a new stadium, I too am sure that Villa could pack it out each game. How about a ground share.

Checking wikipedia, Villa actually won the league cup twice in the last 20 years.

The only building work that Villa need to do is to put up a fukking rain shelter at the train station near their ground.
