Best game attended 2008/2009

by Starfish » 01 Jul 2009 13:27

I got to go to quite a few games in the season just ended but I have to admit that I would be hard pushed to nominate one I am sure I will remember in ten years from now. Maybe Greuther Fürth 5-2 against St. Pauli, a couple of red cards thrown into the deal and so on ... but that's about it.

What game you attended in 2008/2009 would you consider the best?

Cambridge 0 Torquay 2- Playoff final self explanatory.

2nd FGR 1 Torquay 2. 1 nil down, keeper injured so striker Tim Sills in goal for 80minutes of the game. Get back to 1-1. They put a penalty wide with 10mins to go, Torquay winner in the 94th minute. Genius.

My top 5:

Bristol City 1-4 Reading - absolute awayday annihilation, and 2k+ pissed up Reading fans making it a fantastic atmosphere, and Affers falling over his seat in pre-match drunken stupor.

Exeter City 2-2 Morecambe - atmosphere fantastic, Big Bank lockout with 40 minutes to kick off, two quick Exeter goals in the 2nd half had them dreaming of promotion, a late Morecambe goal denied them any chance. Two teams going at it hammer and tongs, and Sammy McIlroy's a c*nt.

Cambridge Utd 0-2 Torquay Utd - Play off final, in the Torquay end with AP, as he describes. Jubilation around me.

Wolves 0-3 Reading - an all round classic away day performance, score early, soak up pressure, hit them 2nd half on the break.

Hobnob FC 19-0 Lower Earley Ravens - I scored, pity we couldn't break 20, and even more of a pity the result got wiped.

Bournemouth 1-0 Chester for Anderton's last gasp thunderbolt winner in his last ever game, or Bournemouth 3-1 Wycombe with some decent football played and let's face it nobody likes Wycombe.

Exeter 3-2 Aldershot. Had everything, Exeter go ahead, go behind, and go ahead again thanks to a cracking 25 yard freekick. Great game, great Devon chants

Glentoran 3 - Distillery 3

For a team that won the Irish Premiership this season I've not met such a bunch of whinging ill informed supporters since the last time I went to the Mad Stad.
