Football Magazine

by LoyalRoyalFan » 04 Jul 2009 13:30

I'm looking to invest in a subscription for a football magazine. However i am stuck on which one to get.

FourFourTwo?
When Saturday Comes? or even Match?

Just about all of them are dying one way or another - like magazines everywhere.

442 isn't what it was once, and tends to concentrate too much on the Big 4 and is too full of adverts for boots etc.

When Satruday Comes is a shadow of its former seld too - still some good stuff but always less ground-breaking that it once was.

I got the last FourFourTwo about Cruyff and it was a good read. However they're are too many adverts in it.

same here, although I do tend to find I've skimmed through it in half an hour these days.

I can't stand the cartoon graphics it uses all the time though - the same style as the ones used on the betfair ad. Apart from looking crap, they just remind me of purple ronnie, which I hate with a vengance.

World Soccer is an exceptionally good read. 442 went downhill when Brian Clough died, his column was always good value.

Have to agree. WSC is still far and away the best but not what it once was. Still the only one to read if you want to delve past the froth anf gloss of top flight football.

FourFourTwo is just tiresome and ultimately an unfulfilling read. To many adverts and even the even the articles are oxf*rd adverts in another form. Cancelled my subscription about 6 months ago. Fed up of spending £9 a quarter to read 2 pages of interest per issue.
