Ferdinand gets extended ban

Good - his appeal was clearly designed to allow him to play last night; I thought that the panel might bottle the extra game, but pleased that they didn't as it shows that it covers all teams in the Leagues.

I'm just disappointed they didn't extend it long enough so he misses the final

i was musing during the semi final last night that if Rio got sent off for violent conduct, how many games would his ban run for; 2 lots of 3, plus 1 for the frivilous appeal plus another 1 for a 2nd red card in a season.

LOL at an 8 game ban!!!!

:D

Interesting insight into Man Utd priorities that they were prepared for him to miss two tricky league games in order for him to play last night.

Although it was very considerate of Rio to act as if already banned when allowing Tevez to score

This is all about him having a good rest.

His back is fcuked, I doubt he'll ever be right.

Considering Vidic is back on Sunday and Evans has been better than Rio so far this season playing Rio last night in order to keep that banner up (what is it, 34 years now?) was a bit of a no brainer.

Expect United to play the kids in the final.

Reading have got their priorities sorted this season. Relegation for the sake of a cup run in a cup they wont win.

More a reflection on Ferguson's arrogance in thinking that he'd get the ban overturned and it wouldn't matter that he'd played Ferdinand. If the offence had been the other way Ferguson would be supporting the ban, that's the measure of the man.

I agree with Maurauding Dog on this; I think that Fergie is smart enough to see the big picture and it was an imperative to stop Citeh getting to the Final - he will surely rest/have on the bench a number of key players in the final.

The good news is that Mr Ferdinand will get plenty of time to go shopping.

Doesn't flip-flop lips have previous for something like this???

(the foul) Inexcusable and totally unessesssary

Personally, I don't want to see him grace an England shirt ever again Mr Cappello, it should serve as an example to the rest of those like-minded cocks ....but i guess he will wear an England shirt...and it will be in the WC

Surely you guys want Ferdinand playing as regularly as possible in the lead up to the World Cup where you will be cheering him instead of barracking him. The fickLOLe World of football.

Shame for Rio that you can still be drug tested while banned

He'll miss the Carling Cup final - but that's what they want, so he's available for an extra league game. Makes sense to me.

As things stand he is going to miss 4 league games, he could get an extended ban of 4 league games and the Cup Final. How are they going to benefit from that?
