1871 Royal Also saw that the ref that gave the Henry hand-ball had a bit of a mare in the Porto v Arsenal game.

It's all about 'ceremonial free kicks' which officials are trained on. Goal shouldn't have been given.

Rubbish. Attacker can take a quick free kick should he wish.
Goalkeeper shouldn't have turned his back on play, defenders should have been awake.

The ref took the ball off the keeper

papereyesThe ref took the ball off the keeper
Ref didn't take it from him, Fabianski threw it back as he retreated.
It's a silly goal to concede but requires both numptiness for Fabianski, Sol Campbell to walk away with his head in his hands and two Porto players to be on it.
Any one of those three not happening and its not a goal.
You'll only get a yellow for directly interfering so Fabianski could have run back slower, Campbell could have been awake, the other midfielder could have tracked Falcao's run. Its just an advert for playing to the whistle and being on the ball.

Silver Fox BTW will this make Spacky spontaneously combust as on the one hand it's UEFA again deliberately stitching up an English club (sic) but on the other it's his arch nemesis Arsene Wenger on the recieving end of Platini's schemes

On sixteen minutes the Royals conceded a bizarre goal. Hahnemann picked up the ball from a back pass. The referee gave a free kick. The Reading defence froze, Hahnamann tossed the ball away and turned his back on the game. Zamora eagerly grabbed the ball slid it to Booker who tucked it away before anyone could react.

readingfc13 They can have no arguments about the goal imo. The Porto players were within their rights to take the freekick quickly and the Arsenal players should have been more awake to the play developing. Fabianski gave the ball to the ref then turned his back and Campbell was just standing there with his hands on his knees.
Didn't a similar thing happen to us in a 2-1 home defeat to Brighton (iirc), where Hahnemann picked up a pass from Murty, the Brighton forward took the ball from Hahnemann's hands, squared the ball for someone else to tap in?
Edit: found it, it was Brighton at home on 4th April 2003On sixteen minutes the Royals conceded a bizarre goal. Hahnemann picked up the ball from a back pass. The referee gave a free kick. The Reading defence froze, Hahnamann tossed the ball away and turned his back on the game. Zamora eagerly grabbed the ball slid it to Booker who tucked it away before anyone could react.

Funny thing is, every Reading fan at the time argued that the goal should NOT have stood........
