relegation from the Championship

by LUX » 06 Apr 2010 13:44

the best prices currently available:

1/14 Plymouth

6/4 Sheffield Wednesday

2/1 Crystal Palace

13/5 Watford

7/1 Scunthorpe

20/1 QPR

25/1 Preston

50/1 Derby

I think the price on Plymouth to stay up must be interesting (if they are 1/14 to go down, which is harsh). Of course, they should go down, but it is not impossible at all for them to stay up. The reverse is true for QPR, 20/1 is tempting, but they should be ok.

selected upcoming fixtures

Saturday is Palace v QPR and Watford v Plymouth

last game of season: Sheff Weds v Palace.

I still think Watford will go. Plymouth's survival depends on how much of the stuffing was knocked out by the Middlesboro result yesterday and if they can bounce back straight away as they have been showing signs of recovery recently. The Muff play away at Watford this weekend coming so this will obviously have a huge bearing.

Sheff Wed's run in is not good including a Sheffield derby match and away games at Cardiff and Boro so may go down to the wire.

Would love to relegate Watford on the 24th and may contemplate the long drive down to go, face painting for the kids, me in my jester hat etc.

Would also like to relegate Watford on 24th April to LOL @ their fans after the goading when we had BR as manager

Derby or Palace for the laughs, please.

Plymouth relegated also warms my heart.

Watford have played better in the last couple of games, but losing Cleverley will hurt them badly.

PNE have won one in about 10 now, 5 points clear of the relegation zone, but wonder if they will get sucked into it, they face, Scunny, Leicester, Cov and us. A win over Scunny on Sat should just about see them safe.

I've just done the predictor and it sees Sheff Wed and Plymouth joining Peterborough in League 1.

Oddschecker have Hills down as the only bookmaker at that price, greed on the price. I've seen them live twice this season and quite frankly how they took 4 points off Newcastle/ourselves I don't know.

I'm slightly  I took us at 4's to be relegated although in my defence we had just been spanked 4-1 by Plymouth and the worst bit is they're another terrible side. Still I may have the last laugh if we make the Playoffs and my 20/1 bet from a couple of weeks ago comes in

Funny old season, we take Rodgers off them and we struggle like anything while they have a bright old season then we get shot of Rodgers and we start having a bright old season while Watford take our place in relegation trouble.....

Watford were having a bit of a honey moon period at the beginning of the season i suspect. Like it or not Rodgers did a lot of good work to turn that club around last season. Now they are back to the tripe they were before he joined.

They seemed to be relying quite heavily on good performances from their young loanees. They've lost one to injury recently haven't they? I think it's hard to keep it going all season relying on youngsters.. but I can't say I've paid huge attention to their season other than vague glances at the table.

We seem to play ok (very unlucky not to beat WBA) when we score first but always lose all confidence after going a goal down (only won 12 game all season from a goal behind!)

I'd like QPR to go just to see if Warnock will still get his 10 million pound kitty he's been promised for the summer? By rights I think Palace should go as staying up is no punishment for spending beyond there means, why should clubs who have spent within there budget be punished?

Personally I want Plymouth to stay up. Was gutted for them with the Boro result (especially after missing then pen)

I think they've played pretty well this season, but have consistently failed to turn chances into goals.

Also a club living more within their means than others (not to mention their difficulty in recruiting players)

I would think that winning 12 games when you have conceded first would be a pretty good record. The worry would be that it would suggest you lose lots of games having scored first.

Unless you didn;t mean 12....

If Sheffield Wednesday (away at Middlesbrough) don't better the result we get at Cardiff tomorrow, we are mathematically safe from relegation.
