Starting XI: Fernando Muslera, Diego Lugano, Diego Godin, Mauricio Victorino, Diego Perez, Alvaro Pereira, Egidio Arevalo Rios, Ignacio Gonzalez, Maximiliano Pereira, Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez.
This is a good preview of that XI that i've found
Although France has one of the strongest teams and enters South Africa 2010 as the reigning runners-up from four year ago, there is no doubt that Uruguay will have no fear of the French team.
France is not only a team in crisis, but Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has a very talented team of his own, that features many stars who play with important European clubs.
In goal, Lazio's Fernando Muslera is the undisputed number one, and the ex-Nacional man will be protected by a line of three defenders, headed by Captain Diego Lugano.
Lugano is arguably the best defender not playing in one of Europe's biggest leagues in the world, and the Fenerbache man is also one of the best leaders in the competition.
Lugano is currently one of the main targets of River Plate in the transfer market, but it will most likely be impossible to draw the 2005 Copa Libertadores Champions with Sao Paulo back to South American football.
Flanking the rugged centerback will be Martin Cacares of Juventus and Diego Godin of Villareal.
The three defenders will be in charge of keeping Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka in check, while also worrying about Sydney Govou and Franck Ribery cutting in from the flanks.
When France has the ball, wing backs Alvaro and Maxi Pereira (no relation) will drop back to create a five man back line, but will also push up when Uruguay goes on the attack.
Maxi, of Benfica, and Alvaro, of Porto, will shoulder much of the burden in keeping France's marauding full backs Patrice Evra and Bacary Sagna in check, but will also be extremely important coming forward and giving width to the attack and linking up with Uruguay's brilliant strikers.
Tabarez will employ two holding midfielders, in Diego Perez of Monaco and Walter Gargano of Napoli, both of whom will have to cover for the flying wing backs while also battling in the midfield against the likes of playmaker Yoann Gourcuff and Chelsea attack Florent Malouda.
There is a feeling in the Uruguay camp that France coach Raymond Domenech will be weak in midfield, allowing Gargano and Perez to take control of the game.
Sitting in a more advanced role and acting as the enganche, or playmaker, will be Nacho Gonzalez who will try and arm the attack for the lethal duo of Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez, who will try and exploit France's leaky defense, anchored by the eccentric and temperamental William Gallas.
Although Gallas is certainly a talented footballer, the man who once promised to score own goals if Chelsea refused to let him leave the club, has a tendency to become derailed and all indications are that he has once again gone off the tracks after losing out to Patrice Evra in the race to be France's captain.
If France's defense is anything but perfect, Suarez and Forlan will be ready to take advantage of any mistakes. There may not be a more lethal tandem in the World Cup.
On the bench, Tabarez will have the veteran Sebastian Abreu as a striking option along with the young and promising Edison Cavani of Palermo.
Nicolas Lodeiro of Ajax is an exciting young talent who is a natural replacement for Gonzalez as the team's playmaker.
Surely France is a side capable of doing great things in the World Cup if its side clicks, but Uruguay will like its chances. There may not be as many big names playing for the South American outfit, but there is surely enough quality to make a run deep into the tournament this summer.
I think the French will win but i wouldn't be surprised if Uruguay get a draw.
