england - the next generation

by Urinal Mint » 27 Jun 2010 16:58

world cup 2014 will see an unrecognisable england team to the over rated and quite frankly embarrassing england team we have today.

there will likely be no: james, a.cole, terry, ferdinand, l.king, beckham, lampard, gerrard, heskey. (anyone else?)

so, do we plan for the future and look to a new younger team (as the german's did) and use euro 2012 as their first test, and to gain experience they need from it? and if so, who are the stars of tomorrow?

or would you stick with an aging unsuccessful team that always flatter to deceive? if so, why?

current obvious youngsters likely for 2014:

gk: hart
rb: johnson
lb: warnock
cb: ?
cb: ?
rw: lennon
lw: milner
cm: ?
cm: ?
st: rooney
st: ?

manager: must be english (redknapp perhaps?)

Why?

Stick with Capello and build on the excellent qualification for this WC.

Its time to demote all the older players and build a new team around players like Rooney and Milner, it may bring about a few poor matches but it will give the players the experience they need for future tournements. As the commentators have just said Schweinstger has 79caps at just 25 years old and similar to Polodski.

My comment from the other thread, I dont mind Cappelo in charge if he makes some major changes.

when we needed goals he replaced defoe with heskey. i am a capello fan, but i think the england job just has a habit of making all good managers very stupid.

row z royal said "You've answered a different question."

sorry. because we've tried a couple of foreign managers and have we improved? no. our qualifying group was very kind, and the world cup group was also kind, or should have been. i just feel we need to give an english manager a chance to manage the national team next.

Thats why I said he can stay if he is willing to make some changes, if not I think he needs to go.

Rooney instead off Delfouneso and Bertrand is a long long way off yet, Micah Richards needs to turn his career around to get in the team and no way Dan Gosling ahead of Milner

Unlikely once his tax fraud case is properly heard. Surely Pearce is being groomed - unless this taiuts him.

Nope HM. Both are too thick. England should look to Roy Hodgson who has experience as an international coach, is intelligent, well respected and English.

A lot could happen in 4 years.

This current lot are ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT. All it takes is one good season from these players and a decent manager (read: not Capello) to give them a chance. Obviously this wasn't a 100% serious post, but still, these players have potential.
