Swedish hooligans

by LUX » 22 Jul 2010 09:20

I've got no English language link, but there were many arrests of Swedish fans over the past few nights in Lux. They came down to watch Jeunesse Esch v AIK (?) in the Champions League (won by the Swedes 1-0, 0-0). Bars smashed up, police attacked and injured. Worst trouble for years over here.

Apparently the 100 Esch fans who went to the away leg got attacked up there too.

this link in French relates to the trouble the night before the game (Tuesday)

Very loose translation from one of the online sites so pardon the very odd grammar on occasions....

Five hurt policemen, from cars and from harmed trade: hooligans was very agitated on Tuesday evening.

The quarter of the Railway station in Luxembourg will remember of this Tuesday evening. About fifty hooligans Swedish of AIK Solna Stockholm lets off stream on the street of Strasbourg. Some of these supporters jumped on cars. Place of Paris, of vandalize was signalled and a group of fans of the AIK Solna went on foot up to the place of the Railway station in a very loud manner. Probably just to mark their territory... Patrols of police went on places to supervise this unprompted demonstration which fast degenerated. Alcohol helping, the bottles of glassy beer flew. Other supporters continued keeping going at cars in parking. The procession and the aggressivity of the supporters were comparatively well canalized when everything skidded. The great majority of hooligans got drunk in a bar of the street of Strasbourg.

When the policemen appeared around the establishment, tension went up of a notch. In the first arrest, the fight started. The Swedishes threw bottles of beer on the policemen as well as furniture taken in coffee. A true pitched battle took place on the street. Balance sheet: five lightly hurt policemen. Confusion - holidays the most virulent were stopped. While situation began calming down, a dozen other hooligans decided to seed riot on the street Joseph-Junck. While shouting soft words in Swedish, they destroyed cars and harmed the face of a store. This énergumènes ten, all drunk, were intercepted and stopped by the police.

The last intervention took place, always on the same street, at about 2 h. Three forlorn and absolutely drunk supporters again seeded confusion in the quarter. They finished in post.

Among all hooligans taken to the police station, the Office of Public Prosecutor ordered imprisonment Schrassig of twelve of them. These last are between 18 and 23 year old.

Sweden really is a bastion of virtuous social-democratic harmony. Even their hooligans only get "agitated". No doubt they are so soothed by living with buxom girlfriends, modernist furniture, and well funded public services that their rage rarely intensifies beyond mild disturbance.
