AussieRoyal15 What's the standard of the Iceland league like?

It runs from pretty good to awful, and that's just in the 12 team top flight. Pretty good I'd define as consistently producing players who are considered good enough to go pro in Scandinavia and English lower leagues. I really hate how much of a "feeder league" to coin a term, we've become for Norwegian football especially, but that's where the guys are getting their shots, so fair play to them for taking them. It's just the gall of some of those clubs, thinking they can just come in with any low-ball offer and it'll get accepted.

But back to the league strengths. Another thing is, the money from European football has created a divide some would say, between those who've regularly featured and thus have money to spend on talent, and those who haven't. It's not a high-paying league, even with the bigger clubs, players have other jobs outside football. To some team's credit who've come up recently, they've made a go of playing their young players consistently. But then we've also had cases like one promoted team last year, who for their first game featured wither only one or no homegrown/mostly foreign journeymen players in their starting XI (which failed miserably) It's only now, with Gylfi's generation coming through, which in areas of the country was the first to have access to indoor arenas which helped with training year-round, that we MIGHT see a bump in consistent overall quality, since not everyone will go abroad.

All personal opinions.

Correct.
One of the splendidly mad things about Iceland is that you can only choose your child's name from the official names register:
http://www.nordicnames.de/wiki/List_of_approved_Icelandic_male_names

More info on the Icelandic government website (in English!):
http://en.island.is/family/having_a_baby/name_giving#Nafngiftir__

Links at the bottom of the page to statistics on frequency of Icelandic names as at Jan 2012. Plenty of mind-boggling names in that list!

Great feet and a cool head with a clever finish, but as usual with these videos the standard of defending he was up against is atrocious. He wouldn't get anything near that sort of space and standing off over here. Nor would he be able to so easily out pace and out wit defenders and keepers. So it's hard to tell how he'd actually do.

Which might be rubbish when they can't out pace defenders and those said defenders actually get tight and make the occasional tackle.

Can't find it at the moment, but I'm sure I remember reading a story at the start of the year about an Icelandic girl whose official name is currently "girl", because her given name is not on the approved list.

And for their splendid prawn rings and frozen cheesecakes. You can keep Kerry Katona and Stacey Solmon though.

So what happens if he himself has a son? I'm sure I could look this up, but maybe the brains of HNA could tell me instead?
