If the billionaires English I don't mind.

I like that our club is owned by an Englishman.

But not sure if I believe it. Oh well.

It is just a rumour or gossip.

Born in Stoke John Hurst. His mother married a polish airman after WWII so he changed his surname to that of his step-fathers. He still links his natural fathers surname with one of his companies "Hurst Publishing".

On the note of billionaires... I hear it could be Richard Branson ;-)

That is poor form, Norfers. Originally Robert John Hurst , but took his late fathers surname later.

I thought Hurst was his father's name and he took his stepfather's name later.

i thought my virgin comment earlier was obvious enough.

I hear that as part of this very complicated deal that Branson is to go into the redevelopment of the station area with J Madjeski, and one block will be named, "The Virgin Tower"

But if he was orignally John Hurst then he didn't take his late father's surname later.

Indeed, but Norfers was originally (about him not being English) - straw clutching... Ahem.

There aren't any British billionaires- at least, not if you use a British billion. (£1,000,000,000,000 iirc. 1,000,000,000 is only a billion on the other side of the pond). So don't get your hopes up for a Brit!

You are of course technically correct. What the Americans call a billion is a millard in English. However, I'm afraid the American usage of the term has gradually become the accepted one, even by the government. When the government talks of billions it really means ,000,000,000 (millards).
The first chancellor to use the term billions in the American sense was Denis Healey (don't think anyone did it before that). Now everyone speaks that way, so Branson is back in the frame.
