Rogers wasn't rated at the club during his time as academy manager and was on his way out before he went to Chelsea.

Hardly set the world on fire at Watford. Just don't understand why people are so desperate for him to come in.

If the choice is between Rogers and Sanchez, then we all better get down that car park...

Southbank Old Boy Pretty sure Leicester were given permission

They were. McGhee accepted their offer, then Madejski spent an evening trying to talk him out of it. McGhee finally told JM that he would stay, but only to get rid of him so he could get some sleep.

Watford boss plays down Reading talk

7:10pm Saturday 11th April 2009

By Anthony Matthews »

Brendan Rodgers distanced himself from this week's speculation linking him with Reading following this afternoon’s draw with Barnsley.

The Hornets boss was suggested as a possible target for his home-town club this summer, amid claims that current boss Steve Coppell may decide to call it a day.

“I love Watford,” Rodgers said when the suggestion was put to him. “Watford have given me a wonderful opportunity as a 35-year-old manager. I had to fight for my life every day to arrive to become a manager and a club has given me an opportunity here and what I want to do is, over the next few years, really create and build something. When I came in I said I wanted to change the philosophy at the club and I love everything about here.

“I’ve only started in management so it’s maybe because I’ve been there [Reading] for a long time and there’s maybe that sort of link, I don’t know. Myself and my family have been accepted here, we love it. I love the players, I love everything about Watford and I’ve only got the concentration for here to hopefully move us on.”

Woah! Did I start that speculation I wonder?

Elliott "Watford manager Brendan Rodgers says a new pitch rather than new players would help him develop his desired passing game at Vicarage Road. (Daily Express)"

No 'new pitch' at Madejski.....

If this is his attitude, then I wouldn't mind if he was the man to replace Steve Coppell at the end of the season. Our pitch has actually been raped this season and getting a new one would be a great priority.

The "passing game" idea would suit us pretty well too.

Pele_Kitson Did we not ask for permission to talk to Peter Taylor before Coppell was appointed, it was denied, so we left it there?

Can we ask for permission again now?

Rodgers may not have set the world on fire but he's been in charge for half a season and Watford's form under him would have had seen them finish around 7th/8th place over the whole season. So if nothing else, he has improved them.

Brendan Rodgers released me when I was Under 15s at the academy and therefore I irrationally hate him. I say irrationally, because I knew I wasn't good enough, but still one first team game would have been nice!

One thing I can say about Mr Rodgers is that he loves good football. Every week before the game we'd go over his approach religiously - 6 years on and I can still tell you;

1. "Want the football, pass the football. How can you score goals without the ball?"
2. "Work hard. The more you put into the game the more you will get out."
3. "Enjoy yourself. It's a lovely day for football (even if it was in fact a horrible, wet day in Tottenham who would routinely dick us 6-0) and you boys are doing what all boys want to be doing on a sunday afternoon. Only you're doing it better. (Except in the case of Tottenham...they were doing it much better)"
4. "Enthusiasm. Learn the game as you play." - This bit I never really got as it seems very similar to point 3.

Would love to see his face explaining this to Duberry...

Rodgers (and Tisdale) appear to be much, much better options than Sanchez. Who, for some reason, quite possibly the assertion that being a part of the Crazy Gang he supports the long ball game, I cannot abide.

I remember him moaning about the Fulham board on Sky (after he'd been booted out) and couldn't stand him even more. But anyway, Brendan seems to have a tactical nouse about him that I like. Very talented says Mourinho, and despite being an arse, I would tend to believe him if he said someone was a good coach.

Alan Partridge He is woeful.

He's taken Hull to the Prem and kept them there. Can't be that bad.

Fine don't like the man or his style but calling him a woeful manager is idiocy of the highest order.

Peter Taylor =/= Phil Brown.

There aren't enough L's in 3-5-2 for me to adequately express my opinion of Peter Taylor.

Aha! So he was at Hull, I just didn't realise he'd gone. Doesn't look like he's pulled up trees since. Did alright at Gillingham, Brighton, Hull and not too bad at Wycombe so far. Based solely on win lose draw.
