Dirk Gently I can't see us getting any loanees in this season - the club think that our own kids are as good as any that would available from in the PL.

Loans aren't just restricted to youngsters though, unless you want the player all season, so we might loan in a bit of further experience and quality.

Agreed on that point - I was really talking about season-long, youngster, loans.

Team that played Basingstoke.

Parish, L Young, Shorey, Hogg, Cuellar, Davies, Albrighton, Osbourne, Forrester, Bannan, Herd.

Rumour is Hammond was there to see and speak to Davies with O'Neil in company.

willz_royal Obviously on the lookout for someone, but who?

Could Shorey find his way back again?

Nah Shorey is going to get his dream move to Liverpool now that Woy is in charge there and they need a left back......

When you say rumour, what do you mean? Do you mean you've heard it from someone that might know or just what you read on here?

Rumour - town fans and dignatries overhearing and asking questions from boadroom discussions. Fact he played in this match and not last night at Peterboro might put some truth into it

Would make sense now that they've told Scott Davies he can go to avoid confusion.

Interesting then. I thought he might've gone on loan last season when he first got fit but if we have a chance of getting him then great, he's got a he'll of a lot going for him and I think would pair up well with Mills.

Not sure him playing at Basingstoke and not Peterborough has much significance though. It seems like they split the squad up quite a bit for the two games.

All the big names were at Peterborough - you could argue that the guys in the shop window were at Basingstoke aka Shorey, Davies, Cuellar.

I think it's fair to say it would be a coup of epic preportions to say the least.

I wouldn't go quite that far-isn't this a similar situation to when we got Upson?
Agree with Hoop Blah that this could be a cracking loan signing.
It must be about 5 years ago now since I posted on here about the player when he had just got into the Luton side but by the end of that season his star had become brighter and above our price range.
Like Ferdinand he lacks concentration but like Ferdinand is a real athlete.
Bring it on Nicky.

This is very exciting... at last a decent rumour with some substance that makes sense...

Lets hope it's true!

Cuellar is not in the shop window he was an ever present at right back for villa last season. I'd be shocked and amazed if Davies joined us as there would be half the premier league probably after him on loan.

Cuellar is a centre back and filled in on the right as Young was switched to cover for the injured Bouma as Villa's reserve left back is crap :)

Who? Stephen 'in the world cup squad' Warnock? Warnock played 41 times last season for Villa and cuellar (46 games last season) was originally playing right back because Young was injured but young never really managed to get back in the side only played 18 games last season. I know all of this because I live in birmingham surrounded by villa fans at work.

The Davies rumour may just have some legs. Villa have better options so may be prepared to let him out on a 6 month loan to get fit. If they pick up say 50% of the wages it might just be affordable to us.

I quite fancy Davies and Mills with Pearce and Ingi as back up.

Players of any age can go on a season-long loan. Happens all the time, everywhere.

Hammond was probably just arranging the reserves friendly with Basingstoke
