Journalists taking more of an interest in us. Change of scouting staff who are more happy to blab. Other clubs releasing the news.

Meh.

For those that think this is just a transitional season and are happy with mid table think again. You can't stand still in football, it's either forward or back. Next summer senior players will leave on free transfers, manager is also out of contract and we will be looking at relegation next season. Were a club on the slide, the young players are giving us false optimism. Even if we could afford them, the better players in this league won't come to Reading and we will be stuck with journeymen such as Mackie, Cox & Ferdinand. Nothing positive is coming from this take over either. Enjoy the slide everyone.. Was going that way until a fluke 6 months got us promoted last time, were just back on that track. :)

The sooner we get rid of Atkins and bring in a decent manager the better then.

If Adkins goes, this would be one of the times i would say promote from within and go with Dolan, nobody knows youngsters any better

We're not standing still though are we. We've gone from no signings in over 300 days to making four before the takeover is complete. Contracts will happen eventually and there's a good team on the injury table. It's not quite as melodramatic as you're making out.

And you can stand still look at teams like Ipswich. Hovering at roughly that level for ages.

Signing players such as Ferdinand, Mackie and Cox is not moving forward. Contracts wont happen, why would any of our better players want to renew whilst the club are showing such little ambition.

Of course it's moving forward. Look where we were pre-summer. We have now made SOME signings which are better than NO signings. There's a way to go yet and I understand that this can seem unsettling, but we're certainly not in the doom and gloom position you're suggesting. We have good players on the books now and once ownership is sorted we may well see contracts offered. We're not a premiership club and we've started late in the window so we're playing catch-up. Ferdinand aside I don't see what's wrong with our signings. Progress is happening.

You're welcome to your doom and gloom opinion, but I for one am quite happy with the presented progress.

LR22: I take it you'll be eating huge quantities of humble pie and changing your location to "I'm a doom-mongering fuktard who needs to get a grip" under any of the following circumstances:
1) We finish above 11th this season.
2) We make a signing for greater than £1m in this or the next two windows, or sign a big name player on a free.
3) We renew at least two of the senior player's contracts before next season starts.
4) We don't get relegated to League One this season or next.

Can I count on your cooperation?

??? Morrison £4m out, Le Fondre 1.5m out. Macarthy £4-5m out =£10.5m. In Cox £600k, Norwood £650k. A loan player. Wow can't keep up with how fast we are moving forward!!!

Morrison was £3m by most accounts, potentially rising to £4m. Some accounts put Norwood at over £1m iirc. McCarthy hasn't actually gone anywhere yet. Ferdinand may have got a signing on fee. There may be a loan fee for Mackie. We can pretty easily infer that we are likely to still have a black hole from wages putting expenditure above income.

We've never operated on spending what we receive, why would you expect us to start now.

Except you are saying it's a fact they won't happen. Your expectations need to be revised on at at least the first count, probably first two then.

Gary Gardener moved on loan until Jan 1st from Villa to Brighton this week. Surely he is exactly the type of player we could do with until Karacan, Williams and Guthrie are back?

Ryan Shotton moved from Stoke to Derby too.
