The fact he wasn't on the bench again today says it all.

Something clearly is up.

So why didn't we sign a striker better than Shane Long? Can't be hard.

Didn't Coppell play the same team as last week - in his usual "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mode?

yes
the problem is it is broke and he still won't fix it
there are players who have the wrong attitude - Shunt and Doyle
and others who quite simply are not good enough - long is a prime example
yet coppell is still picking them in the team - why should any of us be surprised when the team plays as badly as today and also at charlton

I don't think that Shunt and Doyle have the wrong attitude.

it is a matter of opinion
from my view both of these players were waiting for a premiership team to come in for them in the summer and take them away
now this has not hapened they will be gutted and it will be playing on their minds
this will affect their performances for reading
that is my honest opinion

You're right - it's all about opinion. Let's see what happens in the next couple of games though...

My point was, Lita didn't feature today because Coppell stuck to the same squad as our last home game. I'm not discussing the merits of whether or not Coppell was correct to do so. I was answering the person who said the fact that Lita didn't play today, means that "something is going on". I do hope this helps.

definitely agree with you there
a couple of wins will get us back up towards promotion
more importantly it will give the team some momentum, individual players some confidence and change the mindset of the fans

however if there are more poor performances i can see the fans really turn against coppell and the players

i think it is pretty obvious there is something up with lita
there has been a lot of talk that he had a bust up with sonko - which would n't surprise me
if this is true then i can't blame coppell from dropping him
personally i was more surprised long started today not that lita was left out of the squad

Do we know why he had a bust up with Sonko? Might it have been because of Sonko's previous attitude? Do you think Lita refused to play in the reserves? There are lots of things we don't know. The fact is, Coppell stuck with his winning squad from last game. Not necessarily a reason to think that there's a problem with Lita.

I expect part of the reason he has been dropped and isn't in the squad is because he's managed to score 1 league goal for us since the start of last season. And hasn't really looked anything like scoring.

Until we sort ourselves out and put a decent run of form together and play properly there isn't much point playing LIta. He just won't create much and is unlikley to score.

At least Doyle works hard (and has 3 goals), Long is quick and unconventional so can make things happen, but this must be his last chance. NHunt is getting chances, but seems to have a liking for woodwork, probably being soothed in whilst giving Long his chance.

Long is certainly unconventional Ian, I'd agree with you there. Most players do the conventional thing, ie pass it to a team mate, keep the ball on the pitch, etc.

I was referring to his self taught style which as been mentioned by Coppell several times and can catch defences flat footed.

Obviously thats not much help when he can't control the ball as well as even I can, judging by his Ipswich showing.

I heard someone say that they heard that Lita was his own worse enemy.

Allegedly.....................

I had heard (from a friend) that the people who thought they had heard what they had heard, either from the first party or from the person of the third party, had in fact heard nothing more than rumour, conjecture or half truths; except that the people that had heard them as close as second hand, thought that they may in fact be slightly true. The truth is though that it is all hypothetical B*ll*cks. (With the exception of RL who at least believed what she had heard, and makes her decision on first hand contact).

I hope this clarifies things, and lets us add the appropriate weight to these comments before we write off a footballer who most people, dont know (but that doesnt stop them from jumping to some pretty outrageous conclusions about.) </rant mode>

Coppell can't have dropped him for no reason.

Long is no where near as good as Lita, never will be.

I find this whole situation fecking ridiculas to be honest.
