Hammond at B'stoke vs Villa

Obviously on the lookout for someone, but who?

Could Shorey find his way back again?

U would imagine most of the Villa players involved would be avaliable on loan. Personally really like Delfunsso, though he might be off with England.

Being realistic i would imagine the Basingstoke players are more in our price range.

He would be brilliant for us. And the experience that he could pass on the the youngsters would be invaluable.

Knowing our transfer budget, Hammond is probably looking at the Basingstoke Town players !

Yeah like how to score goals regularly, he is the man to teach our youngsters a trick or 2 in that department

Housemates a Villa fan, he heard on the rumour tree that we may be getting young winger Barry Bannan who was at Leicester last year....could this mean Jobi's off to QPShite

He was at Blackpool last year, and they want him back on a season long loan.

They have quite a few centre halfs so you never know...I'd say they'd all be out of our range though, or a young kid, which to my mind isn't what we need from an loan defender.

I would love it if we managed to get Curtis Davies on a loan until Christmas though. He's not really played since coming back from a long injury lay off so Villa might want him out playing first team football as part of his rehabilition.

Perhaps he just likes to watch football games - why must he be looking at someone specific?

Indeed...or maybe he was there to speak to 'stoke about taking some of our younger players on loan...work experience etc...

They'd probably prefer to talk about such details on a weekday, though - probably not when they're hosting a prestigious friendly.

Don't forget they're not fulltime though Dirk. When there's a game on it might be the only time he can get a face to face with them all at the same time.

He can also take in a game with players from both teams that might be worth looking at and getting on our radar.

The likes of Hammond or any of our football background staff will, like you say, just take in games for the sake of it. Partly incase they see a player they like the look of, but just as importantly to network and bump into other people in the industry, build up some relationship and contacts and keep their ear to the floor.

I still hope he was there to talk to O'Neil about Davies though!

Unless he was checking them out to see if they will do our youngsters good!

You're quite right, I was getting him confused with Bruno Berner. Still, the word on VillaTalk is that they would rather sell than loan and apparently Bannan himself didn't like it in Blackpool and would rather move nearer to London (despite being Scottish and enjoying the north)

I can't see us getting any loanees in this season - the club think that our own kids are as good as any that would available from in the PL.
