Capacity

Given all the discussion surrounding the stadium extension, I was just wondering what exactly we will be extending from.

Sky Sports website: 24,200 seats
OS: 24,045 seats
Yesterday's attendance: 24,095.

Man Utd attendance was 24,098 wasn't it?

And 24,092 against City, both breaking the apparent capacity. Also seats lost to the Sky studio, I'd stick with 24,200 as the official capacity. Seats also empty in the away end yesterday!

Oops, 24098 was what I meant and was thinking.

But it was 24,200 prior to the installation of the scoreboard.

I believe that because of the scoreboard/big screen/bigger screen fitting, we had to lose some seats, also lost seats due to the south stand partition, but this would have merely been about 35 seats because that's how many rows there are. But we managed to add an extra row of seats at the tops of the three single tiered stands. Despite the extra row, we still lost what appears I calculate to be 55 seats, as I am led to believe the total capacity is 24145.

Edited to correct a glaring typing error!!

24,145 I'd believe, but not 2000 fewer.

Seats also lost due to Sky Sports box. I assume this will be taken down at big gaps between televised games. It was up for City, and the "foundations" (not the box) were there for the Darlington match, the box was up again for Utd. Not sure wether Arsenal, or Chelsea, or both are televised, but I assume after that it will be taken down and that should bunk up the capacity. According to the Playfair Football Anual (something like that) in the 2003/2004 season it was 24,100. If this is right, then it means either 2 seats wern't occupied on saturday, or the Sky Sports box took up 2 seats

I had a plan for the pre segregation seats but am not sure how many have been taken out for the Sky studio. The segregation seats have all been dispersed around the stadium above the top row so you don't have to take those out. I must admit having counted how many white and how many blue plastic sheets were needed for Raise the Hoops I lost the will to live as I was seeing dots before the eyes.

I think it was over 24200 when you add in all the press as well, but don't forget that we rarely use all the wheelchair spaces so it is unlikely to get to the absolute maximum.

Seats were empty as alot of United fans had gone down the front to stand up. Surely you'd have seen this
