14th September 2006:

"I have enjoyed every minute of working with tremendous colleagues at this special football club.

"With the Club riding high with sell-out crowds and well established as a model professional club, I now feel that the objectives set in January 1998 for me as Sales & Marketing Manager have been achieved.

"I am ready for a new challenge and will be leaving in the very near future to find that challenge."

He will never find his way to the ground, he will get lost on the Magic Roundabout.

Swindon are aoming for the Championship, no ambition there, at least JM always wanted to be a Premier Club.

Platypuss I now feel that the objectives set in January 1998 for me as Sales & Marketing Manager have been achieved.
By his own words it took him 7 years and 8 months.

I wonder what those objectives were and whether objectives set in the subsequent years were met?

I'd imagine they were something like :

- Sell every available ST
- sell out every match completely
- sell all corporate hospitality space
- get a shirt deal with a mnajor manufacturer
- sell all home shirts
- get a decent sponsorship deal.

As he says, they were all met - but how many by BB and how many by Steve Coppell is open to question.

to be fair to him, he inherited the ticket office once it had started to go down hill. Dont think we can point the blame entirely at him. got a feeling he may have been a bit of a scapegoat .........................

Still, Swindon Town - chuckle, chuckle

What a crappy attitude you lot have. His experience will be valuable to any team looking to emulate Reading.

Anyone know why everything wasn't 'perfect' at Reading?

My own view is, if there were problems, someone higher up was probably at fault given Boyd's length of service, otherwise they would have fired him much earlier, wouldn't they?

Perhaps he was tasked with achieving certain objectives without also being given the resources and the responsibility to achieve those objectives.
