Goodbye Goater

by Mr Irascible » 12 Mar 2007 13:58

...is it not time that the SMS advert on the official site was updated? It still has Goal Flash Goater! I thought that Colchester was bad enough still referring to Parkinson as Manager. Come on Reading...time to redesign the site and check the content! Look at how slick MUFC's site is!

Site content like that is the responsibility of PTV, not the club. They are still tied into the original deal from about four or five seasons ago

I wonder if when this deal is finished, would the club consider a RFC TV channel.

But surely

a) The club would have an input into what is on their site and

b) It makes PTV look bloody stupid using an ex-player to advertise a current service.

Because we are not big enough to have one on Sky, when you think Man Utd, Celtic, Chelsea and Rangers are the only clubs with them.

Good point - Virgin Media are looking for some cheap content at the moment and, by the time they've finished haemorrhaging customers after Branson picked a fight he could never win, Reading fans would make up a sizeable chunk of their reduced customer base!

Branson never picked a fight, he stood up for Sky trying to charge them double for the same content. As it stands, until Sky come up with some sort of on demand feature then I am quids in with Virgin

In essence, the club already has a TV channel online, it just doesn't do that much programming. There is no reason why the club couldn't have a proper channel - even if it was just an expanded online channel. These days, bandwidth is cheap, so the overheads are not what they once were.
