From today's EP:

Reading's reserve match against Chelsea on November 7th has been moved from Aldershot's Recreation Ground to the Madejski Stadium.....

Great, suits me - infinitely easier to get to, might pop along.

.....prices are 3 pounds for adults and free to Young Royals.

Hold on, hold onnnnnnnnn - it's free for season ticket holders at Aldershot, why isn't it free for STH's at the MadStad? Why has it been moved anyway, to maximise the revenue we can get from local Chelsea fans I guess :roll: ?

If it isn't free for STH's, how come Young sodding Royals get in for gratis? I've being going to reserve games longer than many of those young scrotes have been alive, the little bleeders :roll:

If it isn't free for me to go to then, RFC, you can shove it up your @rse.

.. I have very strong suspicion those entry fee's are not for the notice of season ticket holders.

Maybe it will be like last season where there was no need for anyone to pay for reserve games.

Don't know if they will be doing vouchers, if I hear anything I will let you know.

Forbury Lion I was under the impression tickets for reserve games were no longer free, not even for STHs


Entry to RFC reserve games at The Rec has been free to STH's this season. Not been along myself but I have read this in the programme. So why the (apparent) difference at the MadStad?

I can imagine the club decided that in order to encourage people to travel to Aldershot they needed to drop the entrance fee.
With a game back on home soil they've gone back to what they had last season.
It's hardly be a money spinner. Say 3333 paying customers @ £3 gives £10k. By the time they've paid wages, electricity, insurance etc etc it'll hardly be making an impact on the bottom line !
Which then does beg the question - why bother ? Throw the gates open and get as many people in as possible !

RFC are earning a pretty penny from the current SKY/Setanta deal. As a show of goodwill for the expensive price we pay for our season ticket would the ocassional low-key freebie not hurt?

Aren't there 'low key freebies' on offer at every reserve game bar this one ?

But I take your point....

Personally i'd do free entry to the Chelsea and do a programme slightly better than the usual A4 sheet for sale at £2 and aim to sell enough to pay for the stewarding costs. Plenty would buy but no one would be forced...

LOL!!

Valid point but completely different context. I don't think £3 is much to ask for watching two Premiership reserve sides, in particular, one which will probably have 5-6 international players on show.

Kevan Hall shoulda sent an email round really...

But you could see those five or six international players at the Rec for nothing.

And Chelsea would probably do the usual and bring along a bunch of youngsters, so it's not like it's worth paying to see them.

But add in the additional travelling costs to get to Aldershot than up to the Mad Stad and it probably works out even with the £3 entry!

LOL! Presumably as he can't pick the Chelsea reserve side, much like he can't pick the Liverpool, Newcastle or Man U side, I dare say he's not in much position to say "Only 3 quid to see (insert name of benchwarmer here)"

Speaking of benchwarmers, I can't believe a thread about a Chelsea reserves game hasn't yet contained the word Sidwell.
