Would you renew

by The 17 Bus » 15 Nov 2007 10:47

should we end up back down there next season, and what would be a fair price for a ST/day tickets.?

I would think about £400 for a ST and £20 prebooked game by game.

Far more likely to renew if Reading are relegated and prices are reduced than if the team are still in the Prem and prices remain the same or increase.

Obvioulsy I'd renew and I'd pay whatever the price was.

Fair price would be about a fiver a game, but those days are long gone.

I'd hope to pay what we did when we were last in the Championship - £365 wasn; it ?

Suspect you are right with £400ish

Agreed.

£20 per game is the threshold for me.

Agreed.

Sadly RFC know this and that is how they will decide their pricing policy for next season.

Another generous price freeze in the Premiership or £450 for the Championship.

I would expect the following to still occur :

Tiered pricing of the Championship based on opposition

Bronze - £23 Silver - £25 Platinum - £30

Season tickets to drop to around £390-£430 depending on where you sit

I believe we closely followed Palace's ticketing operation when we were promoted, their prices are almost exactly the same as ours in this league.

I'll renew whatever the price but, if the club still hasn't spent any of it's premiership treasure trove, I think they should follow the example of Charlton and offer a huge deal to renewing season ticket holders.

I suspect they'll be £425 odd though and less than 66% will renew as a result.

Currently undecided.

To be honest, I'm much more likely to renew for a Championship season than I am for another Premier League season - but that's not to say I don't want the club to achieve the latter.

But the obstacles to being a fan and the whole ethos and structure of the PL is really getting me down at the moment. I don't see much point in watching a team for whom the only aim getting 40 points, instead of having a chance of winning something.

But that's how I feel today - probably as a backlash against Monday's "Harlem Globetrotters" exhibition match.

I may well feel differently in a few days, and when it comes to deciding not to renew "my seat" - which has been "my seat since August 1998" - it will be an extremely painful decision.

12k+ STH would be a pretty good retention rate, crowds would still be up around the 20k mark most weeks assuming we were competitive on the pitch.

Just the 10,000 empty seats then.

Not necessarily, I would expect them to revert to having the South Stand available for away fans in it's entireity unless demand dictated that RFC fans would want tickets there.

Sorry, I thought you were advocating an extention to 30,000.

30,000 - 20,000 = 10,000

Glad you've finally seen sense

No, those of us with a consistent and logical approach to the extension have always advised that if our Premiership status looks at risk it would need to be reconsidered.
You have taken a different approach

24,000 - 2,000 - 12,000 - 6,000 = 4,000

Capacity - away fans - STH - match sales = spare capacity

There has been no argument presented that dents the logic of the extension if Premiership status is preserved.

Why do you not consider my approach, (which has always been to wait until the end of the season and make a decision based on where we are and what the demand has been over the previous season), consistent or logical?

Because with the time and cost required before building work can take place, a decision really has to be made mid-season. A decision taken at the end of this season would be as valid as a decision taken at the end of last season.

Not really, at the end of this season, you have two years of Premiership data to consider rather than making a decision based on the stats of the only Premiership season in the club's history
