Riseley If only we had a strong working class voice on the subject of pricing policy instead of the middle class dominated STAR.

STAR is a democratic society and will represent its members. If the members were to say to the STAR committee that it wants to see cuts or individuals will boycott the ST renewal then action would ensue.

The CLub might well refuse. But STAR would - I believe - put their views to Mr M and his acolytes.

The working class always used to seize the initiative...... so how about an online petition arranged by someone who feels strongly as a starting point Mr Riseley - or stand for election to STAR?

STAR should actually be representing the needs of the Reading fans as a whole, not just those that want to pay for membership so that they can use the coach or visit the fans forum.

My guess is that they try so to do..... However, it is only possible for an organisation to represent views if they are aware of them. They will know much more of what members want as they get feedback. Also it is possible to survey members. And what if the members all expressed a desire for something even though it was known that no other fan wanted it? The Board would be constitutionally bound to represen the menbers' views [or to resign]. So really all fans should sign up to STAR.... or stop moaning.

ATM I really don't know what I'll do about renewing.

I would much more be tempted to renew in the championship. The premiership has unfortueantley lost it's novelty at home already.

You cannot express the views of Reading fans as a whole because "the whole" does not share the same view

eg, removing a few rows of seats in the east stand to provide a "RFC members club", exclusive bar and seating area

fans in the affected area probably won't want it, some fans will be keen on the idea so will want it, and a load will be pretty indifferent to it as it doesn't affect them one way or the other

what view does STAR represent?

I would think the principle would be that STAR is able to consider any issue from the point of view of the fans, spot where there might be concenrs or differences and make sure the club are made aware of that.

STAR doesn;t HAVE to argue the case for any one fan or group of fans, pointing out that there are different views would be a good role.

STAR also isn;t responsible for highlighting every view - fans also need to take responsibility for stuff that affects them and STAR can provide a communications route to the club. If people care enough about a n issue then they need to care enough to approach STAR and offer to run with it - not just expect some mythical person to do it for them....

Anyone who even considers not renewing is clearly a PLASTIC. Off you all go and leave this club to the REAL fans.

According to my spy Mr Mad hardly acknowledges the existence of STAR and the club just use them as pawns. On the renewal front- anyone who doesn't is a bloody disgrace.

voyeur Anyone who has a season ticket is a fool. Armchair viewing is the way forward

I am so bored with the Prem that I am now cancelling my Sky Sports subs [and Movies too]. A tidy saving that can be spent on more enjoyable pursuits....
Cut out the STs and save a further couple of grand and it could be a trip to Canada for skiing and whale watching next Xmas.

LOL @ anybody who seriously believes ticket prices will go down if we're relegated.

I'll take the LOL then. Whilst the club may take the 'you get more games' line I would strongly suggest that if they asked £545 for a Championship ST here may be a small drop in demand for tickets...

It would be a dodgy line to take. We never heard any 'you get less games' sentiment when we went up!
Paradoxically I would be more likely to renew if we were relegated.

massive turnover of managers in the CCC due to the bunfight of getting into the prem and here we are saying we'd happily go down?

i'd rather not be a yo-yo club and not be in a mid-table CCC position this time next year and have people calling for Sir Steve's head.

i'd rather continue the brick-by-brick by consolidating in the Prem this season with a view to a fairly ruthless squad overhaul next summer.

then i'd want to challenge for the UEFA cup over the next couple of seasons along with the odd surprise result against the 'big 4' and celebrate Sir Steve's 5th and 6th anninversaries.

and no. I'm not Nigel Howe nor Squeaky.

I just think progress is trying to get to the top of the biggest mountain rather than dropping down a bit and being happy that we're quite good at climbing a hill

Dirk Gently But that's how I feel today - probably as a backlash against Monday's "Harlem Globetrotters" exhibition match.

Have to wonder if in years to come this match will be seen as a seminal point - the point at which the club publicly accepted that as well as being impossible to compete over the course of a season with the likes of the Arse, it has now become impossible to compete over the course of 90 minutes.

So people should renew regardless of how much the club might try to bleed from them?!!

Although contrary to what Shades thinks, I don't think even they are so stupid as to expect people to shell out PL season ticket prices for a Championship season ticket. Are they???

Really don't think it will arise as the current bottom three are such a poor crop. I can imagine all three being gone well before the end of the season.

It's way too soon to be so confident, there are only 3 points between 12th and 17th.
