Kes Why doesn't Jackie Evans just read the comments on here instead of wasting time getting mystery shoppers?

I agree about mystery shoppers, complete waste of time. Just have to look of the character of someone who chooses their career to be one. If you want honest opinions ask the people who are there not the people being paid for it.

You are so wrong in this instance - the mystery shoppers in this case are not professionals but ordinary supporters, who have been asked to just go and buy at the concourse outlets and then complete a questionnaire. The only payment, which may or may not be an advantage, is the food and beverage you buy up to the limit of the voucher you are given. The only outside input is the analysis of the questionnaire results.

:?

So do the 'mystery shoppers' use the voucher to actually buy their food and beverages? Surely even the fookwits behind the counters could solve that one.

Ah but the brains who thought that one up probably also make them dress up in long coats, hats, dark glasses and false beards so as to not give the game away!

Presumably the mystery shoppers can't be trusted with real cash!!

I'm sure if you provide your full name and address she would.

Otherwise she probably realises that 90% of what is on here is exaggerated or mischief making.

So if I supply my name address it doesn't mean I not exaggerating or mischief making......

No, your user name gives it away.

If you supply a name and address then at least they can follow it up.

But in any case HNA isn;t the place for communicating with the football club and if an issue is so unimportant that you can;t be bothered to contact them direct it hardly merits their time...

why would they need to follow it up when they can read what the problem is on here?

Reminds me of the argument one of the regulars on RoyalMail came out with once. It was to do with a fairly major change to do with the stadium (possibly when making the East Stand reserved seating was first being mooted). This genius reckoned that the best way to communicate the change to the fans wasn't through the official website, match-day progreamme, the local papers, or even unofficial websites. No, what he said they should do was to have people who could start rumours about the change.

And just what's wrong with that? It's a tactic that has served our wonderful government extremely well during their time in power!

Leak a 'worse case scenario' to test the water before running with the real thing.

BTW, as Shaggy said: 'It wasn't me'!

The Fosters sellers need to spread out a bit more instead of all standing in the middle part of the concourse on the North stand prior to kick off. Would be nice to have one up near the North/West corner.

Wait there, no point saying this as I'm not a mystery shopper, haven't filled in a questionnaire and supplied my name and address so my comments will be diregarded.

We all know what the problems are.

1)Half the staff can't speak good English.
2)They can't do basic maths
3)They dont listen and get the orders wrong
4)They dont seemed bothered in getting orders done quickly

etc...

No need to have mystery shoppers. Another time wasting excercise by Reading Football Club.

Their grasp of mathematics was shocking though - which was nice !!

Interesting to see they seemed to be actually cooking stuff rather than reheating it. The benefits of using a massive stadium built for a world class event I guess !

I though the place was well run, stewards and police were very friendly and all in all a decent day about until the 94th minute. Even then the collective gurning of the City fans to our left kept me amused....

With the benefit of hindsight, perhaps..............................but most customers don't offer to pay for their food etc until it's been handed over.

Or more the result of having a decent designer involved in the project. Let's face it, as far as the councourses go at the Madejski, they must be borderline fit for purpose. I only hope that they get someone on board with a bit more knowledge for the proposed extensions.

Or, indeed, downright dangerous.

I'd be interested if there are any specifications in the Green Guide, or in other football licencing guidance, detailing what proportion of a stand's capacity a concourse should be able to comfortably hold. I appreciate that stands vary in design and age, but there must be some assessment made, shirley?

I'm pretty sure that the MadStad concourses are below the standard area now recommended in the Green Guide.

What is the "Green Guide"? If you want concourse space, then the place to visit is Anfield.

Nigel Howe has said a few times that the concourses are the bit of the stadium that they got wrong.
Man City was pretty good - never too crowded and easy to get served.
Definitely agree that the extension needs to address the problem, no real excuse not to !

However demand has actually fallen for improved concourse space and therefore provides no justification for expansion.

I have no evidence to support this assertion, but it is a scientific fact.

Factual basis for this is that smokers are now shoved outside leaving the concourse space for the rest.

Fewer people do in fact wish to use them...

Though on the flip side the demand for better designed entry gates and turnstiles is required due to this. Though of course having a wider concourse would stop the bottleneck at half time.

Not sure how many options there are for designing a turnstile !

Or indeed just about any stadium built or re-built since 1998 - they've all learnt from our mistakes.

We suffered from being one of the first of the "next generation" of new stadia, and at the time the concourse space recommended was much smaller per person than it is now - I think everyone agrees that we have too little.

No sarcasm. I'm not on about the historical sense, I'm on about concourse space. St Mary's is huge, as is the Liberty Stadium. As for Pride Park, it's bigger than the Madejski, but arrived a year or 2 earlier, so we should have learnt off them!!
