Catering Again

by gazzer, loyal royal » 02 Jan 2008 12:37

Yesterday i have to say was the worst i've seen in 8 years of going to football.

I was the first erpson to be served after the turnstiles opened in the Upper West concourse and it took 10 minutes. The person didn't know how to work the till and could barely give me the right change. Do they not do training days.

I also had to take the first 4 pints of lager back for being flat, they were no bubbles at all and i wasn't the only one to do it.

I remember the club a couple of months ago doing a survey on average waiting times at the concourses and i'd like to see the end product of the service. Surely it doesn't take long to do an average sales from the till for every game and just keep pouring until you hit that figure

SymonsO Outside the ground near the north a hot choc is 1.30, outside gate 8 it is 1.50.

They're independent sellers I think you'll find. They can charge whatever they like and pay a fee for the pitch.

Found it surprisingly good yesterday, bought a few drinks and a pasty and got to my seat in plenty of time. The guy spoke good english and gave me the right change. This was in the north

There were also quite a few mobile beer sellers, which I dont often see there. Shame I wasnt drinking :(

Nope - I'm pretty sure the vans outside are also owned by Compass, the same catering company who have the contract for the inside catering.

Competition is what is needed. Competition = lower prices = more food sold. Competition = better quality food = more food sold.

Absolutely right - two or more companies competing against each other would ensure that the price, the choice and the quality or food and service would improve for supporters.

At the moment we have a virtual-monopoly situation with catering - and that's never good for consumers.

Competition is what is needed. Competition = same prices= same amount food sold. Competition = those that have the vans working together to set prices.

Is how it works in almost every business, otherwise beer in most pubs would be closer to Wetherspoons prices.

I must admit I was shocked to see the burger kiosk that used to be by the south stand entrances now replaced by an up-market thing that sells a roast pork baguette + bottle of coke for £ 7.00 ! I know they have to pay the club to trade there etc.etc. and this pushes the price up but even so.......atleast in the championship food WAS cheaper !

I wonder if the blokes who sell the badges and scarfs etc. at the bottom of the hill have to pay the same rates ??

I'm still reeling from knowing that a person took a pint of lager back because it didn't have enough bubbles in it

Most of the time Schards buys a pint at the ground, it's only 3/4 full.

He should complain then, tho thinking about it 3/4 of a pint of piss must be better than a full one.

If you eat at the ground you are a mug, it's only allowed when hungover or bored during the game
