floyd__streete How anyone reasonably expected any better than this today is beyond me. Anyone who has watched RFC regularly this season has known for a long while that this is a poor squad for this level, pushed far beyond the limits of its ability. Hunt and Oster rarely got a sniff in the Championship winning side yet are regulars in this side. Oster must be very grateful about the fact that Hunt is a regular actually, for as long as Hunt plays Oster won't be the worst winger ont he pitch.

The gulf in class today - gulf in class; Fulham have won their 5th game of the season today  - was encapsulated by the ubiquitous Jimmy Bullard. Harper and Hunt should have asked for Bullard's autograph today - had they got close enough to him - because he will be a Premier League footballer next season. Harper and Hunt, it is increasingly safer to say, almost certainly won't be.

Floyd I always love what you have to say and I certainly take your point about Oster and Hunt in the starting line-up now when they were not good enough in the Championship winning team....that certainly points to the squad not being strengthened anywhere near as much as it should have been.
However we are still in a stronger position than Bolton, Fulham and Brum....the goal difference is a problem but its in the hands of the players and if after this performance they dont get a rocket then something is seriously wrong.
Dont despair yet..it will probably get worse with Arsenal next week but then the players are going to have to scrap like hell for the final three games. Hopefully it will be enough and if it is lets home some serious player investment occurs in the summer.

Rev Algenon Stickleback H I thought Fulham were crap

Can't say as I agree at all with that. Sure, there was absolutely nothing to beat but I though that Fulham played some intelligent, decent football and a 5-0 scoreline would have been fair.

To be fair, there wasn't much in the way of boom boom anything today. Utterly embarresing support, even I couldn't lift myself to join in after that second half.

Before I have my turn to rant, people must admit that our performance was still better than against Villa and Bolton. Fulham were class - hats off to them I say. Passing - great, movement - great, midfield - awesome.

Rosenoir was one of our worst players last week and matched that performance this week. One fantastic block is not enough. What's happened to the player against Man City? Play Murts next week.

Hunt is utter sh*te at the moment and his great effort isn't good enough. Play Convey next week.

Harper wasn't poor, but we need someone who can make tackles and I'd much rather play Marek to do the creating. Play Cisse or Fae next week.

Bike and Inga - probably our best players today. Thought the positioning for 90% of the time was good and they were also on the right side of players to make some great blocks.

Shorey - if he didn't set up/score so many goals for a defender I'd be calling for his head. His passing was awful today and just didn't look like he cared.

Doyle is a striker and hasn't scored for about 5 months. Stop playing your favourites Steve!

Long - is an impact player ONLY. He's great at that role so please stop playing him from the start Steve.

Oster - thought the booing was utterly disgraceful. The man wasn't great, but was still better than some. Scapegoat. Still, play Blakey next week. The man can cross if nothing else!!

If Arsenal lose tomorrow they won't be playing for anything next week and will utterly downhearted. Can see us getting something if that happens.

It's still in our hands. We seemed to have the defence sorted (for a relegation team anyway) but the midfield is playing second fiddle too often. Same against Newcastle last week.

To be absolutely honest, the supporters are the least of our worries at the moment.

I say if we actually decide that we like playing in the premiership and dont get relegated, and fulham then do, JM shoud spalsh the cash on Bullard. The mans a legend. His performance was only bettered by that of the South Stand Crossbar.

Bolton 3 Reading 0
Reading 0 Bolton 2
Fulham 3 Reading 1
Reading 0 Fulham 2

Deserve to go down.

And if we do go down, there's the reason. Bet we don't beat Derby last day of the season either.

I'd suggest that there is more chance of the Pope coming to Reading than Jimmy Bullard, Premier League or not (my money is on not).

Royalee It's funny how Coppell's never come out and told us our chairman's tight-fisted. Quite the contrary in fact, he's said that he enjoys superb support from the board and didn't feel the need to strengthen at this stage.
.

As for the buck stopping at the manager that's crap. Reading FC is no long a sporting team it's a multi-million business and, as with any such business, the buck always stops with the Chairman. JM is just fortunate that he doesn't have any shareholders that he really has to worry about answering to!

that will be why it is the manager that gets to move on and not thew Chairman, get real
