Regardless, the club believes that the player who was our first choice right winger for much of the premiership is not worth keeping for the division below.

I was there at Elm Park Just looking through the squad; does anyone know the contract situation with Curtis Osano, Scott Golbourne, Mikkel Andersen, Simon Church, Jem Karacan, Bozanic and Illugason? I'm sure some of them have/had contracts running out this season but there doesn't seem to be a mention on any of them on the club's website.

http://www.btinternet.com/~rfc1871/players/database.htm

All have at least another year to go with the exception of Osano (who will surely be released).

Ah, missed Golbourne - he's out of contract too.

FA cup third round against West Brom three seasons ago had screened in Japan, and Oster was wizard in those two matches.
He was too good and better than any player in Brom which was Premier league team that time.
I will miss him......

No, performance/skill doesn't actually appear within the boo boys' selection criteria. They are far more blinkered than that. If all else fails, you can't beat a bit of blind prejudice!

It would take some pretty blinkered vision to see Oster as one of our better players.

If that info is true it will be interesting to see if we offer Golbourne another deal. If we do is he a possible replacement for Shorey or a sign that our young players at the club will be promoted to back up status this year. Good to see that apart from Shorey and Lita the rest of our players all have a few years left.

Kebe, unless either Little gets fully fit in the summer or we get a decent right-sided midfielder in.

Its not that unusual. He was the 2nd choice right winger on our books. No point in extending his contract when Little is returning from injury ( ) and has been given an additional year, Kebe will have had more chance to settle in and both James Henry and Hal Robson-Kanu will be a year further down the line in their development.

Oster/DLC would've been good squad players at least in the CCC, leaves our squad very very thin if we release people like that and don't bring any in, considering a few of our first-choice players are likely to go.

Thanks to those two for their service, Oster never quite applied himself fully I don't think and could've done more with his talent. People seem to have forgotten him tearing apart the Chelsea defence in August, whenever he did something good it was overlooked and anything bad was concentrated on, right up until Derby. As for DLC he had a nightmare in his first couple of games but was very solid after that, underrated and one of my favourite Prem moments was him waltzing through Colin's defence - one of those pinch yourself to make sure this isn't a fantasy goals.

Doesn't say much for the club's planning that Oster played however many Prem games and is now not kept on for the Championship.

Have to confess that after the two resseies games I saw, and the League Cup match against Liverpool (I think? The first-team game he played in, anyway) I didn't think Golbourne looked good enough for the team in the Prem. Maybe he'll be OK in the Championship. Kind of potentially Murty's level, I'd say, on admittedly only a handful of viewings.

I was referring to last season not next.

Oster could have done a job this coming season but I think fresh blood might be a better call.

This is the way it works every season, though. Players out of contract and surplus to requirements are the first to go, as they have to find new clubs. Next will be the contract players who insist on leaving, or the club want to hawk off cheaply. Then the horse-trading begins on the rest. So, it's very premature to start worrying about the thinness of the squad.
