More midweek games is a great bonus,.,.. I just love em... can aoid taking the kids too!!![/quote]

I hate midweek games.
No time to get back home before the match, so I go straight from work suited, unless I can be bothered to take a change of clothes in. Straight to the pub after work sounds good, but I've always got a hangover the next day, and I have to spend good beer money on food. Its a tenner in the taxi when I get back to Winchester after the match, and I never get home till nearly bloddy midnight.
No, I really really feckin hate midweek games.

When does it stop being "this" season and become "next" season?

The BBC seem to think it was today, as they've officially relegated our link to the championship page, athough we are still premier league according to the table they show - not that it's exactly pleasant to look at.

I always count it as when the fixtures come out.

I believe that the seasons run from 1st June to 31st May - hence why transfers can not be "completed" until this week.

I always thought it was 1st July to 30th June as most contracts run to the 30th June.

I believe that is roughly when the PL annual meeting is. We hand over our share to one of the promoted clubs at this point and are officially relegated.

Fair shout - I knew it was the 1st of either June or July. Perhaps Dirkers can confirm this...

Players standrad contracts all run until the 30th June, which is the date that most authorities regard as the "end" of the season.

With regard to players' contracts the rules on approaching players who's contracts are about the expire are :

2. A Club shall be at liberty after the third Saturday in May in any year and before the 1st July next following to make such an approach to a Contract Player
2.1 who will become an Out of Contract Player on that 1st July; and
2.2 who has received no offer from his Club under Rule M.17.2 or
2.3 who has received but has declined such offer.

So I suppose Shorey is a 2.3. Does that mean any interest in the others will have to wait until July?

No - if they have a contract with us then any approach can only be made through us first. The above applies to players whose contracts are about to end.

RG30 Carling Cup draw is also to be made either this Friday or the Friday after (13/06) (source: OS for Preston)

Football League website says 10:00 on Friday 13/06/08.
