To think Pearce is better than Sonko is laughable, Pearce has potential but lacks pace.

How do you know the bid wasn't made after the Charlton match . If a bid has been made at all.
Also, there's such things a pros and cons- Sonko's pros are that he's physically good, his cons are that he's mentally terrible. Pearce can carry the ball out and has a great brain, but isn't as physically good as Sonko.

SCIAG - Regardless of when the bid was made, if SC is as switched on as we think, he'd have known Sonko wanted out, please don't tell me Sonko suddenly became the model pro, so why not play Pearce in before the better teams come to town ?

Sonko's improvement and attitude over his first 3 years or so at Reading was first class, I saw his first meaningfu game when he came on as sub for Williams after about 15mins at Ipswich and he was an utter joke in all honesty. He looked absolutely terrifeid when the ball went anywhere near him. He improved immeasurably to become for me the best CB in the division when we got promoted. He was awesome that season. The first half of the Premiership season he was up and down and I thought embarassed at CHelsea (although he was up against Drogba) He got injured shortly after and after that he wasn't even close to being the same player he was. His attitude last season was absolutely disgraceful at a time when we needed all hands to the pump. He was atrocious and exceptionally lucky to get another chance, he did and again he has been a mixed bag in the first 3 games. Awful in the 1st half at Forest and then superb in the 2nd, played very well against Plymouth and then was terrible on Saturday. I haven't seen any signs really that he is as good as he was and I think we have better options available here now in the likes of Duberry, Bikey and possibly even Pearce.

£2.5million is excellent business for us and I wish him well at Stoke.

Absolutely - I also recall that Ipswich game, and wondered at the time what he was doing at the club. We have subsequently seen what.

Bottom line is if a Prem club comes knocking for any of our players, we aren't going to stand in the way of their careers, as long as the money is right

A player who effectivly "went on strike" as he didn't want to play for the reserves for a club that pays his good wages is getting no tribute from me, although he did have some good times such as that header against Palace.

Sad to see him go but he's not been the same player since the cruciate injury 18 months ago and seems to have lost a yard or two of pace although his physical presence is still immense. However this is covered by Bikey, and Alex Pearce isn't exactly invisible either!
